E-bike bonus: € 200 bonus confirmed by decree

The government has just approved a subsidy for the purchase of an electric bike by its decree. The € 200 bonus is valid until December 31, 2018.

After e-scooters and motorcycles were allowed to participate since January 1, 2017, it is the turn of e-bikes to qualify for the bonus. Officially by decree published this Thursday, February 16, this surcharge is set at 20% of the purchase price, including bike tax, and is capped at 200 euros.

No lead battery

Decree 2017-196 specifies that the assistance is valid for « purchase of pedal-driven bicycles that do not use lead-acid batteries, as well as for the purchase or rental of two- or three-wheeled motor vehicles and quadricycles with electric motors with a maximum net engine power of less than 3 kW and without the use of lead-acid batteries. acid battery ". Its application begins on February 19, 2017 and will last until December 31, 2018.

This national device, which professionals have been expecting for many months, complements measures already taken to support the development of cycling, such as a mileage surcharge or a tax credit for companies.

In practice, all you have to do is present an invoice to ASP, the government agency in charge of paying bonuses, in order to receive the grant. This can only be paid once for an individual who must agree not to resell the bike. It can be combined with electric bike subsidies already established by certain communities (see list here).
