Does the 2019 conversion bonus apply to electric scooters and bicycles?

Until now reserved for cars, motorcycles and e-scooters, the conversion bonus could be expanded in 2019 to scooters and e-bikes.

While rejoicing will need to await the final adoption of the 2019 finance bill and the publication of an executive order at the very end of the year, an amendment voted this week in the National Assembly confirms the principle of extending the premium to buyers of bicycles and scooters, conventional or electric.

With the support of LREM MP Damien Pichero, this measure will expand the scope of the conversion bonus. For bicycles and scooters, the amendment offers assistance of up to € 1500 for tax-free households and € 750 for taxable households. Interesting fact: the text states that it will be possible to subsidize several devices depending on the number of people in the family. However, the aggregate amounts cannot exceed the ceiling.

As a reminder, the current conversion bonus already allows funding for electric two-wheelers, but is limited to scooters and motorcycles. The premium is € 100 for a taxable household and € 1100 for a tax-free household. The premium is subject to the write-off of a gasoline-powered vehicle prior to 1997 or a gasoline-powered vehicle manufactured prior to 2001 (2006 for tax-free households).

If the proposal to include bicycles and electric scooters is not questioned in the coming weeks, this will be stated in a decree, which will be published at the very end of the year. A case to follow!
