Bosch Software Innovations GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Bosch Group, plans to acquire ProSyst. The corresponding agreements were signed on February 13, 2015 in Stuttgart. ProSyst employs 110 people in Sofia and Cologne, Germany. The company specializes in developing middleware and integration software for the Internet of Things. This software facilitates the interaction between connected devices in smart home, mobility and industry in today's digital world (also known as Industry 4.0). The company's clients include leading manufacturers of equipment, automobiles and computer chips, telecommunications and power supply companies. The deal will soon receive approval from the antitrust authorities. The parties agreed not to disclose the price.

IoT device management

ProSyst solutions are based on the Java programming language and OSGi technology. “On this basis, the company has successfully developed middleware and integration software that has been providing a reliable connection between the end devices and the central cloud system for more than a decade. This is crucial for the future of connecting buildings, vehicles and equipment,” said Rainer Kahlenbach, Chairman of the Management Board of Bosch Software Innovations GmbH. “In Bosch, we have a strategic partner with a strong sales network around the world. “Through this collaboration, we will be able to play an even greater role in the growing IoT market and significantly expand our global footprint,” added Daniel Schelhos, Founder and CEO of ProSyst. Java and OSGi are used, for example, in so-called smart home applications and in industrial production. Software written in Java and integrated with OSGi technology can be installed, updated, stopped or uninstalled automatically and remotely without the need to restart the device. Remote access is most often achieved through integration software that provides intelligent control and remote configuration of devices. For example, the program can analyze the received information about electricity prices or the weather forecast and transfer it to the heating system, which will switch to economy mode.

Single network for heating, home appliances and CCTV cameras

The ProSyst software also takes on the role of a "translator" - in order to connect a heating system, household appliances and video surveillance cameras to a smart home, they all need to "speak" the same language. This is quite difficult when devices are from different manufacturers, use different communication protocols, or cannot connect to the Internet.

Combined with the Bosch IoT Suite from Bosch Software Innovations and the expertise of the Bosch Group as a leading sensor and device manufacturer, ProSyst software will help our customers launch modern IoT applications faster. to be among the first in new areas of business,” Kahlenbach assured. ProSyst software pairs perfectly with Bosch IoT Suite, our IoT platform. It mainly complements the device management components, since it supports a large number of different protocols. This will significantly improve our market position,” Kahlenbach added.

Bosch Software Innovations offers end-to-end solutions for the Internet of Things. Services complement the company's portfolio. The main product is the Bosch IoT Suite. Bosch Software Innovations has 550 employees in Germany (Berlin, Immenstadt, Stuttgart), Singapore, China (Shanghai) and the USA (Chicago and Palo Alto).
