Buell Ulysses XB 12X: Traveler

One thing is for sure: when Eric Buell founded the brand, he brought at least some very unusual solutions to the motorcycle world and a vision, if not revolutionary, of what a motorcycle should look like and how it should ride.

The increased interest in off-road vehicles outside the Great Puddle led to the appearance of Ulysses, which in translation meant the traveler Odysseus. Economists call this a quick adaptation to a market where people grab almost everything that comes from the Harley-Davidson factory. Buell is not a Harley, but every heart that drives these extraordinary motorcycles is built right on the assembly line in Milwaukee. That's why the 1.200-cubic-foot twin-cylinder engine's sound and pleasant smoothness is a true Harley style. It's good because it's something special and unique. Buell will never be a BMW, just as Ullysses will never be an R 1200 GS.

But there is another option for those who do not want the most drive. And they won't complain, because the air-cooled two-cylinder engine emits a little more heat than you would expect, even the sound of the fan becomes unbearable if you get used to turning it on frequently in front of almost every traffic light. No longer annoying and even the steering wheel wobbles above 160 km on the watch, due to the very soft suspension, short wheelbase and sharp fork angle, won't get on your nerves every time you rush.

Man is an adaptable and also a bit vain creature (some more, some less) who wants to stand out in society. In motorcycling circles, this is sure to happen to any Buell owner. Luckily, oil leaks and poor quality are almost a distant past, meaning this Ullysses isn't a bad choice after all. You just need to love it at first sight and feel that belonging to the big twin-cylinder heart that beats in it. Only in this way can you really enjoy the sharp and easy response to commands behind the wheel, when riding a serpentine becomes like riding a supermoto motorcycle. It's fun, a lot of fun and a lot of fun!
