Bugatti Centodieci revealed: is this the ugliest car in the world?

Bugatti will only build 10 Centodieci and they have already been sold.

It's worth $13 million and has a face that only a mother could love - check out the Bugatti Centodieci.

The Volkswagen-owned hypercar company unveiled its latest limited edition creation at Monterey Car Week in the US. Centodieci translates to 110 because this latest creation is a tribute to Bugatti's 1990s EB110, which briefly helped resurrect the company before the introduction of the Veyron in 2005.

Bugatti will only build 10 Centodieci and they are already sold out despite its controversial appearance. While the show car is finished in white (which gives it a stormtrooper look), customers will be able to choose their own shade; although this is quite reasonable, given the attractive price.

“With the Centodieci, we are paying homage to the EB110 super sports car that was built in the 1990s and is part of our tradition-rich history,” said Bugatti President Stefan Winkelmann. "With the EB110, Bugatti took off again to the top of the automotive world after 1956 with a new model."

Unsurprisingly, trying to combine the modern form of the Chiron donor car with the aesthetic of the typical wedge-shaped supercar of the 90s was a challenge for the designers, and the result is a dramatic look that you can love or hate.

“The challenge was not to allow ourselves to get too carried away with the design of a historic car and work exclusively in retrospect, but instead to create a modern interpretation of the form and technology of the time,” explained Achim Anscheidt, chief designer of Bugatti. .

To at least try to justify the excessive cost, Bugatti managed to reduce the weight of the Centodieci by 20kg compared to the regular Chrion. To achieve this, the company went to the extreme by creating a carbon fiber windshield wiper.

Under the Chrion's hood is an 8.0-liter W16 quad-turbo engine capable of delivering a whopping 1176 kW, but the company has limited top speed to 380 km/h. However, Bugatti claims it can hit 0 km/h in just 100 seconds, 2.4-0 km/h in 200 seconds and 6.1-0 km/h in 300 seconds.

“It's not just top speed that makes a hypersport car. With Centodieci, we demonstrate once again that design, quality and performance are just as important,” said Winkelmann.
