E-bike sales boom confirmed in 2020

Breaking a threshold of 500 units sold in France for the first time, the electric bike will be another record year in 000!

Nothing seems to stop the insane growth of the electric bike. This segment, which gained widespread acceptance the day after the first restriction, set a new sales record in 2020. According to Union Sport & Cycle, 514 electric bikes were sold in France in 672, up 2020% from 29.

While electric city bikes remain the most popular among the French, with over 200 units sold, or 000% of sales, other segments are booming. This is especially true for mountain electric bikes. Average purchase price rises

Another trend is the increase in the average purchase price of electric bikes. During the year, it jumped by 21%, from 1595 to 2079 euros.

Although it accounts for only 19% of all bicycles sold in France, the electric bike has generated over one billion euros in turnover, an increase of 58% over the year.

Big winners, retailers alone account for 76% of generated revenue and 57% of all e-bikes sold.

A market that should continue to grow in the coming years. New forecasts by Union Sport & Cycle indicate that the milestone of one million electric bikes sold should be surpassed by 2024.
