At the end of 2017, the BYD Song lineup received an extended version labeled Max. Thus, the crossover has become a comfortable family minivan. The newly appointed chief designer, who previously worked at Audi, worked on the car's designs. The front of the car has retained the Chinese style (resembles the face of a dragon). The body has received an original design that gives the car visual dynamism.

Only one engine option is installed in the engine compartment. This is a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline four. The cylinder block is lightweight - instead of cast iron, an aluminum analogue is used.
