Can-Am Outlander 400 EFI

If someone asked us (and usually us) which four-wheeler to choose but doesn't know which one is right for them, we would certainly recommend the Can-Ama Outlander 400. It's the most versatile, friendliest and most complete. an ATV that is suitable for hard work in the forest or on a farm, as well as for sports adventures.

The key to such a wide range of applications is in design and detail.

Starting with the engine, it is the same as we knew last year, with the only difference that for the needs of the European market it is supplied with fuel through a 46 mm electronically controlled intake manifold block. Electronic injection works great, the engine starts cold or hot, does not squeak when gas is added, and the increase in engine power follows a beautiful continuous curve without any unpleasant surprises.

It performs well off-road and performs the task without mistakes, both when driving fast on country roads and gravel, and when climbing stones and fallen logs in the forest. But even such good electronic fuel injection wouldn't have helped him if it didn't have a good gearbox. For undemanding use, it has been provided with a continuously variable CVT transmission in which you can choose between slow, fast and reverse with a gear lever position.

The torque is transmitted evenly to all four wheels, and on rough terrain, a front differential lock helps. As such, it is also ideal for beginners who are just discovering the charm of ATV driving and adventure. With such a simple gearbox and the friendly and non-aggressive nature of the engine, there is no problem with getting used to or learning. You simply move the lever to the correct position and "open" the throttle with your right thumb.

Another part of the secret behind why the Outlander is so successful in the field and just as important on the road lies in the suspension. All four wheels are individually suspended, with a pair of MacPherson struts at the front and a pair of independent levers at the rear. In practice, this means excellent traction on all four wheels, as a well-functioning suspension ensures that the wheels are always on the ground (for example, except when you decide to take a jump).

Since it does not have a rigid rear axle, it provides faster speeds on uneven terrain and performs especially well on dug and rocky tracks, where it overcomes bumps much more smoothly than we are used to with four-wheel rear hard drive wheels. axis. On asphalt, it does not need to be repaired all the time in a given direction, since it quietly accelerates to a speed of 80 km / h, which is only an additional argument in favor of safety, and one should also note the excellent working brakes (three times disc).

It is also worth mentioning that it was equipped with two powerful barrels that can load up to 45 (front) and 90 (rear) kilograms of cargo. If you go on a longer trip, there will be no problems with luggage, tent and other camping equipment. Well, only hunters for whom such an Outlander is intended will have to be a little more careful so as not to accidentally hunt the capital's deer or bear, since you can't put it in the trunk. However, the Outlander can tow a trailer weighing up to 590 kilograms!

As the environment becomes an increasingly important topic today, we must emphasize that the unit is extremely quiet and unobtrusive to the environment, and the Outlander has been shod with tires that, despite their rough profile, do not damage undergrowth or sod.

The Outlander is designed primarily for those who enjoy outdoor activities but find SUVs too large and bulky. On such an ATV, you experience the surrounding nature more intensely, which is a special charm. But if you plan to work with him, he will not refuse to obey you either. Perhaps it will not be superfluous to note that in addition to the smallest engine with a volume of 400 cubic meters, they also offer units with a volume of 500, 650 and 800 cubic meters, so that everyone will find something to their liking, both for less and for a very demanding one. ATV enthusiasts. But they all have a common versatility.
