2022 MG HS price and specs: details of upcoming price hike for Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5, Mitsubishi Outlander, Hyundai Tucson and rival Nissan X-Trail
Prices rose again on HS.
True to its promise, MG Australia has detailed the price hike for the HS midsize SUV, with affected MY22 stocks due on showroom floors from April.
On February 1, MG Australia increased the price of existing examples of the 21 model year Plus EV Essence flagship variant by $1000, while all other versions remained unchanged.
But in two months, the entire HS line will move $1000 upwards, from the entry-level Core to $30,990 and then the double-touched Plus EV Essence at $49,990 (see full pricing table below).
Earlier this month, a spokesman for MG Australia said the price changes were made "in view of the unprecedented rise in the cost of raw materials and transport logistics in 2021."
As a result, no changes were made to the standard equipment of the Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5, Mitsubishi Outlander, Hyundai Tucson and Nissan X-Trail.
For reference, the entry-level Core and Vibe, mid-range Excite and flagship Essence are powered by a 119kW/250Nm 1.5-liter turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine that sends front-wheel drive through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Automatic transmission.
The mid-range Excite X and Essence X instead use a 168kW/360Nm 2.0-liter turbo-petrol four-cylinder petrol engine mated to a six-speed DCT transmission and all-wheel drive system.
Meanwhile, the flagship Plus EV Essence features a plug-in hybrid powertrain (PHEV) that combines a 1.5-liter unit with a front-mounted electric motor for a total output of 209kW/580Nm.
The Plus EV Essence also has a 10-speed torque converter automatic transmission and a 16.6kWh lithium-ion battery that delivers a claimed range of 52km.
