ZAZ Forza is a Chinese car, which was taken for production by the Zaporozhye Automobile Plant. In fact, this is a Ukrainian version of the "Chinese" Chery A13. In terms of external indicators, the car completely repeats the “source”, and it looks equally harmonious both in the form of a hatchback and a liftback version (which, unknowingly, can easily be mistaken for a sedan). Despite the five-seat interior, the rear passengers in the car and the two of them will be slightly crowded, and if three people sit down, then you can forget about comfort. However, the car is quite economical and unpretentious in terms of fuel.
Many owners of ZAZ Forza, with enough knowledge and skill, can service their vehicles themselves. Some problems in the car are easy to identify and fix without the help of specialists. And such a simple problem can be clogged throttle. You can do it yourself if you have certain tools and only an hour of free time.
When is throttle body cleaning necessary?
Responsible for supplying air to the intake manifold, the throttle valve performs the function of the "breathing organ" of the engine. The air filter cannot always clean the trapped air from a variety of suspensions.
The engine has a crankcase gas recirculation system. Gases accumulate in the crankcase, which consist of oil dust, spent fuel mixture, and unburned fuel. These accumulations are sent back to the cylinders for combustion, and even passing through the oil separator, some of the oil still remains. On the way to the cylinders lies the throttle valve, where oil and ordinary dust mix. Subsequently, the dirty-oil mass settles on the body and the throttle valve, which has a bad effect on its throughput. Therefore, when the damper is clogged, a number of problems arise:
Inhibition of reaction to the gas pedal.
Dirty-oil accumulations restrict air flow, because of this, the engine is unstable at idle.
At low speeds and speeds, the car starts to “twitch”.
Due to the high level of pollution, the car stalls.
Increased fuel consumption, due to the fact that the engine ECU recognizes a weak air flow and begins to increase idle speed.
The formation of deposits on the throttle is not always the cause of its malfunction. Sometimes problems arise due to a broken position sensor or drive malfunction.
How to remove the throttle valve?
The manufacturer recommends cleaning the throttle assembly every 30 thousand kilometers. And preferably, along with cleaning the throttle, a replacement should be carried out. And after every second cleaning (after about 60 thousand kilometers), it is recommended to change.
It will be possible to fully clean the damper only on a completely removed throttle. Not everyone decides to do this, as a result they are still left with a dirty damper, only on the reverse side. How to dismantle the throttle on the ZAZ Forza?
First, remove the air duct that connects the air filter to the throttle assembly. To do this, you need to fold the crankcase purge hose, and loosen the clamps on the pipe of the filter housing and throttle.
*Assess the state of the surface inside the air nozzle. In the presence of oil deposits, completely remove it. To do this, disconnect the crankcase purge hose. Such plaque may appear due to wear of the valve cover oil separator..
Having previously squeezed the latch, first disconnect the wire block from the idle speed controller, and then disconnect it from the throttle position sensor.
We disconnect the idle speed regulator (fixed on 2 screws with an X-screwdriver head). We also disconnect the position sensor.
Disconnect the adsorber purge hose, which is fixed with a clamp.
We remove the tip of the gas pedal cable from the damper lever.
We remove the spring clip of the accelerator cable, and then the cable itself, which then will need to be adjusted when installing the throttle.
We unscrew the 4 bolts securing the throttle to the intake manifold, and then remove the throttle.
* It is advisable to inspect the gasket between the throttle and the manifold. If it is damaged, it must be replaced.
After all the above steps, you can start cleaning the throttle body.
Throttle body cleaning ZAZ Forza
You need to clean the throttle on the ZAZ Forza. It is better not to use classic solvents (gasoline, kerosene, acetone). The most effective and safe are products based on organic solvents. There are cleaners with functional additives to enhance the cleaning properties.
Apply the cleaner to the damper surface that needs to be cleaned.
We give about 5 minutes to the cleaner to eat into the dirty oil layer.
Then we wipe the surface with a clean piece of cloth. A clean choke should really shine.
When cleaning the throttle assembly, attention should also be paid to the channel of the idle speed controller. This channel bypasses the main duct in the damper and thanks to it the motor is supplied with air, allowing the engine to idle.
Do not forget about the air filter, which already with a run of 30 thousand km will clog well. It is advisable to change the old filter to a new one, because of the dust remaining on it, which will immediately settle both on the cleaned damper and on the intake manifold.
Installing the entire structure back, you need to adjust the accelerator cable, namely, to make the optimal tension. When the gas pedal is released, the tightness of the cable should allow the damper to close without any obstacles, and when the gas pedal is fully depressed, it should open completely. The accelerator cable should also be under tension (not too tight, but not too weak), and not hanging.
On a ZAZ Forza with high mileage, the cables can stretch a lot. Such a cable can only be replaced with a new one, because it no longer makes sense to adjust its tightness (it will always sag). Over time, the idle speed controller wears out and.
The order of operation of the vehicle affects the frequency of cleaning the throttle: the stronger it is, the more often you will have to work with this node. But you can do everything yourself without specialists, in particular throttle service. Regular cleaning prolongs its life and generally increases the efficiency of the engine.
