So that you can quickly get behind the wheel of your car, you need to act in this way:

• write a statement about the theft at the police station - the numbers are unlikely to be found, but you will receive a copy of the statement about the theft and a notification card, at the same time prepare an alibi for yourself if the numbers flash in some kind of crime;
• deliver the car to the parking lot or to your garage - it is better to hire a tow truck or wait for the night and drive through the nooks and crannies where traffic police posts are unlikely;
• within 10 days you should receive a response from the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the initiation of a criminal case or on the refusal to initiate.

When you have a response from the police, you need to contact the traffic police registration office in order to go through the vehicle registration procedure again, with the only difference that you do not have to present the car itself. Take with you a standard set of documents:

• a statement from the police, a notification card and a statement that you write in the traffic police department;
• your passport;
• vehicle passport and its copy;
• VU;
• registration certificate;
• maintenance ticket;
• OSAGO;
• medical assistance.

If there is a duplicate license plate left, it must be handed over. After paying the receipt, on the same day you will be given a new certificate of registration and numbers. Then, at the service station, you need to get a new MOT coupon based on your application. Changes will also be made to OSAGO and CASCO insurance policies.
