What to do in case of an accident without casualties? Procedure
If you carefully analyze the statistics of road traffic accidents, you can see that most accidents occur without causing damage to health. Indeed, a slight scratch or dent received from another car is already an accident. But because of this, you should not block the roadway for a long time, waiting for the arrival of the traffic police inspector to document the incident.
What should I do first?

As we wrote earlier, you can resolve issues with the culprit without involving the traffic police. We are talking about Europrotocol. It is worth noting that any insured event is a minus in your story, so if it is possible to resolve the issue amicably immediately on the spot, then immediately pay for the damage or agree on a way to compensate for it without involving the insurance company. Be sure to take a receipt for the transfer of money, in which indicate the passport data of the driver and car. This is necessary in case you encounter scammers.
The Europrotocol is issued in the following situations:
- both motorists have an OSAGO policy;
- no bodily injury;
- the amount of damage does not exceed 50 thousand rubles;
- there is no disagreement about the culprit.
You need to correctly fill out an accident report form. One copy remains with each of the participants in the incident. All information must be legible and correct. Then, within 5 days, the injured party applies to the IC, where the manager is obliged to open an insurance case and fill out an application for damages. As we already wrote in the previous article, according to the new amendments of 2017, in most cases, money is not paid, but the car is sent for free repairs to a partner service station.
The application must be accompanied by files with video and photos from the scene of the accident, as well as a statement of the reliability of the information. Pay attention to such a moment: you can be helped to draw up a Europrotocol at the nearest traffic police post. In this case, you do not need to stay at the scene of the accident, but go to the nearest stationary post.
If the manager finds any errors in filling out the notice, payments or repairs may be denied, so you have every right to resort to the help of the European Commissioner in case of an accident - he is the one who fills out the notices and can contribute to the speedy payment of compensation from insurance companies.
Calling the traffic police inspector for registration
You need to call the Auto Inspectorate in the following cases:
- you cannot understand the situation and identify the culprit;
- damage exceeds 50 thousand;
- you cannot agree on the amount of damages.
A traffic police squad will arrive at the scene, which will draw up the case in accordance with all the rules. You just have to follow the correct filling of the protocol. If you do not agree with the decision, then indicate this fact in the protocol. This means that the case will be decided through the court.
It is imperative to obtain a certificate of an accident, without which it will be impossible to receive compensation in the UK. According to the regulations, the inspector is obliged to write it out directly at the scene of the accident, but very often traffic cops refer to the lack of forms or employment. In this case, a certificate should be issued to you the next day after the accident at the nearest branch.
