What you need to remember when going on vacation by car?

What you need to remember when going on vacation by car? The full holiday season for most of us is holiday travel time. Contrary to appearances, traveling by car is not easy. In order to comfortably and safely cover long distances in a vehicle “crammed to the brim” with passengers and their luggage at temperatures sometimes exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, it is worth remembering a few basic points. We advise what to pay attention to before and during further trips.

There are a number of reasons why you decide to go on holiday by car for various reasons. We will transport it by car without What you need to remember when going on vacation by car? There is definitely much more luggage than, for example, on an airplane. Moreover, we choose the route ourselves, which, unlike organized bus trips, allows us to visit much more individually.

Regardless of the reasons why we chose a car to comfortably get on our long-awaited vacation, there are a few basic things to keep in mind when driving a car in the summer season.

Check out the tech tent

- The first, absolutely key issue that we must take care of before leaving is the proper technical condition of the car. Particular attention should be paid to elements that affect our safety, says Grzegorz Krul, Service Manager at the Martom Automotive Center, part of the Martom Group.

Therefore, before we go on vacation, we must check the condition of the brake system, steering and suspension. This type of fundamental research can be carried out, for example, in the diagnostic tract. This is especially worth doing when some time has passed since the technical study.

On this occasion, we will also replenish all working fluids. We must not forget about proper visibility - at night on slightly longer routes, properly working sprinklers or wipers may even be needed.

Don't Forget Tires and Insurance

An important element that most drivers forget about is the correct amount of air in the tires.

– Each vehicle has strictly defined 3-4 tire pressures. With several passengers and their luggage, this level should be much higher than usual. And if we forget to inflate the wheels before leaving, we risk overheating the tires, which will significantly reduce their life, - adds a representative of the Martom Group.

Unfortunately, we also rarely check the condition of the spare wheels. Moreover, some cars are not even equipped with them! Instead, manufacturers offer the so-called. However, tire repair kits are only meant to repair minor damage. When choosing a longer route, it is worth considering a slightly more traditional solution.

Our insurance can help us fix any problems on the road. Therefore, before leaving, we must check what is included in the package we have bought and what we can expect in the country we are going to.

Air conditioning is comfort and safety

Overcoming longer distances in summer will certainly be facilitated by an efficient air conditioning system. Heat, bright sun and lack of air circulation affect not only the comfort of travelers, but also their safety, increasing, for example, the reaction time of the driver. Therefore, it is worth adding to the list of our tasks before the holiday to check the “air conditioner”, top up the coolant and eliminate the identified malfunctions.

“We also need to remember to use the air conditioner wisely. We should never cool the vehicle to extremes, because when we get out, we can be exposed to thermal shock. It is better to choose a temperature slightly lower than outside, for example, 22-24 degrees, explains Grzegorz Krul.

As for the trip itself, it is generally accepted that we can travel about 12 kilometers in 900 hours. It is good to plan your route in such a way that every 120 minutes you can rest - a few relaxing descents and turns, or, for example, a short walk in the nearest parking lot.

Light bulbs, cord, keys

Finally, it is worth mentioning the elements that we must take with us. Well, if you think about a set of basic car bulbs, which, especially at night on a poorly lit highway, can be invaluable in the event of a breakdown.

- While at home, let's also check the transport systems of the car. An installed hook or a tow rope in the trunk will definitely help us deal with any problem,” the Martom Group expert suggests.

Losing the keys can also cause us a lot of problems during the holidays. To protect yourself from their loss or theft, you should take a duplicate with you, which you will store elsewhere, preferably always with you: in your pocket or purse.
