What do the red numbers on the car mean?


If the car number is a red table with white letters and numbers, then this indicates that you have a vehicle belonging to a diplomatic or trade mission of a foreign state. This number consists of four parts:

  • the first three digits are the state that owns the diplomatic or trade representation;
  • letter designations - type of organization and rank of the owner of the car - consul, head of consulate, diplomat;
  • serial number of the car in this representation;
  • the region or region of the Russian Federation in which the car is registered.

What do the red numbers on the car mean?

There are representative offices of 166 states in Russia, respectively, and the numbers go from 001 to 166. For example:

  • 001 - Great Britain;
  • 002 - Germany;
  • 004 - USA;
  • 011 - Italy;
  • 051 - Mexico;
  • 090 - China;
  • 146 - Ukraine.

Various international organizations have their own designations from 499 to 535.

These three digits are followed by letters:

  • CD - head of the embassy or diplomatic mission;
  • SS - consul or person who is the head of the consulate;
  • D - another person of the consulate who has diplomatic status;
  • T - the car of a consular officer who does not have a diplomatic status;
  • K is a foreign journalist;
  • M - representative of an international company;
  • N - a foreigner temporarily residing in Russia;
  • P - transit number.

These letters can be followed by a number from 1 and above, indicating the number of the car in this representation. And as usual, in a separate box at the very end, the digital designation of the subject of the Russian Federation in which the car is registered and the designation of Russia - RUS are indicated.

What do the red numbers on the car mean?

The traffic police is obliged to create conditions for the unhindered passage of cars of the first persons of diplomatic missions. If the diplomatic car is driving with flashing lights, it must be skipped. Usually they can be accompanied by traffic police cars.

When a diplomat commits traffic violations, they bear the same responsibility as ordinary citizens of Russia. The inspector writes out the protocol in two copies, one of them goes to the consulate and must be paid in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation. The diplomat is obliged to compensate for the damage caused to him.

However, despite the equality of all before the law, it is better to avoid violations in relation to cars with diplomatic plates.
