Driving license categories - A, B, C, D, M
In 2013, changes to the law on traffic rules came into force in Russia. According to them, new categories of rights have appeared, as well as the responsibility for driving a vehicle that does not correspond to the category of your rights has increased.
At the moment there are the following categories of rights:
- A - motorcycle control;
- B - cars weighing up to three and a half tons, jeeps, as well as minibuses in which there are no more than eight seats for passengers;
- C - trucks;
- D - passenger transport, in which there are more than eight seats for passengers;
- M - a new category - driving mopeds and ATVs;
- Tm and Tb - categories giving the right to drive a tram and trolleybus.
After the changes came into force, the category “E” disappeared, which gave the right to drive heavy tractors with semi-trailers and trailers.
In addition to the categories listed above, there are a number of subcategories that give the right to drive certain types of vehicles:
- A1 - motorcycles with an engine capacity of less than 125 cmXNUMX;
- B1 - quadricycles (unlike quadricycles, quadricycles are equipped with all controls, like a car - gas pedal, brakes, gearshift lever);
- BE - driving a car with a trailer heavier than 750 kilos;
- C1 - driving trucks no heavier than 7,5 tons;
- CE - driving a truck with a trailer heavier than 750 kg;
- D1 - passenger cars with the number of passenger seats from 8 to 16;
- DE - passenger transport with a trailer heavier than 750 kg.
After amendments to the law on traffic rules, the following subcategories also appeared: C1E and D1E, that is, they allow driving vehicles of the corresponding categories with a trailer heavier than 750 kilograms. It is also worth noting that drivers with a DE or CE category can drive C1E and D1E vehicles, but not vice versa.
