What should you have in your car during an epidemic?

What should you have in your car during an epidemic? The coronavirus pandemic continues. However, drivers have to travel to and from work every day. Even though our lives were far from normal two months ago, we also need to follow certain safety rules while traveling.

1. Vehicle equipment - the basis

The coronavirus is spread by airborne droplets. We have to make sure our car is properly equipped. Disinfectant liquid should now be the main equipment of the driver. The same applies to a face mask and a set of disposable gloves. Such protective measures will reduce the risk of infection with a dangerous virus. This will help us, for example, during road checks or collisions to protect ourselves from possible infection with COVID-19.

2. Preparing the car for movement

We must remember to properly disinfect all elements that we touch with our hands, even if we are driving with gloves on. Wiping down the car's handle, keys, steering wheel, and shifter will help us reduce the chance of possible transmission and survival of the coronavirus in our car. If we leave the car for a longer period of time, a more thorough disinfection can be carried out, for example, passenger and driver seats, storage compartments and dashboard. In times of epidemic, there is no exaggerated attention to cleanliness.

3. In the event of a collision

Let's not forget that a traffic accident can also occur at this unusual time. In a special package, an act-report on the identification of the culprit of the road accident, a set of masks and gloves were to be prepared. Documents and a printed statement can be placed in a foil envelope with a disinfected handle. In the event of a traffic accident, we will be able to use such a package in complete safety. However, the most important thing is to minimize contact with road users. So let's try to wear gloves and a mask and ask to keep a distance of at least 2 meters when exiting the vehicle. We may ask another participant to fill out an application and take it back, putting it in a plastic shirt with gloves. Let's be 100% careful and limit contact with other people in accordance with the current regulations of the Government of the Republic of Poland.

4. At the gas station

Unfortunately, we have to refuel even during a pandemic. Let's choose sparsely populated stations where the chance of meeting other drivers is relatively low. We will also refuel during off-peak hours. This will ensure that we do not expose ourselves to excessive exposure to COVID-19. At a gas station, always remember to wear gloves and a mask before leaving the vehicle. Let's try to pay by credit card or mobile phone. Avoid cash, and after paying the fee and returning to the vehicle, sanitize your hands in the car with antibacterial gel.
