The rust converter may not bring the desired effect if you start using it without reading the instructions for use. It strictly stipulates that, firstly, the chemical solution will not cope with a thick layer of rusted metal - in this case it must be thoroughly cleaned, and, secondly, it will not be possible to restore the body element if it is corroded by rust to holes - then it will help replacement only.
In addition, the instructions prescribe a sequence of actions, following which you can achieve the desired result:
- Cleaning a metal surface not only from rust, but also removing paint and varnish residues from it.
- Apply with a brush or by spraying the composition on the treated area and leave it to dry completely.
- After the composition has dried, remove the layer with a copious amount of water, clean up the remains of the solution with a stiff brush, thoroughly wipe the application site with a rag.
- Re-apply Zincar and, after the visual traces of rust have disappeared, wash off Zincar and move on to priming and painting.
The manual has strict requirements for the technique of performing work: rubber gloves and goggles must be used, if Tsincar gets on the skin, immediately rinse the area with plenty of water.
How long does Tsinkar dry?
Many motorists are concerned about the question of how long Tsinkar will dry out. It all depends on how many times the surface has been treated and what the ambient temperature is. In sunny weather and a temperature of about 20 degrees Celsius, the process will take no more than 30-40 minutes.
After making sure that the surface to be treated is completely dry, it is necessary to remove the remaining solution as carefully as possible. If this is not done, you can achieve a completely undesirable effect, when rust “blooms” even more magnificently under the remnants of the drug!
How to improve the efficiency of use?
When thinking about how to use Zincar Rust Converter, you should pay attention to subtle points, due to non-observance of which all efforts can go down the drain.
The first and main one is the need for total cleaning of the place that needs to be processed. In case of detection of obvious through corrosion and strongly thinned metal, it should be removed mechanically. If there is a lot of rust, it makes sense to work with a metal brush along with a grinder. However, it is also not worth it to thin the metal too much. If welding work is necessary, it is necessary to first carry out them, and only then apply layers of protection.
If the exterior elements that are most exposed to snow, rain, dirt and reagents are treated with a solution, it makes sense to prime and paint in a special chamber. Naturally, the body must first be thoroughly dried.
How much to apply?
To achieve the best effect on the restored area, you need to apply exactly as much Tsinkar as recommended by the manufacturer. The amount of soda solution, with which you can wash off the dried excess anti-rust, will also directly depend on how much of the mixture was applied.
It should be borne in mind that no matter how many times you treat the damaged area with anti-rust, you should not save on a primer in this place, because elements that have already rusted before “pick up” corrosion much faster than previously undamaged parts.
Corrosion in the initial stages should not be considered as a death sentence for the body, especially if you use good rust preventives such as Tsinkar wisely.
