CMBS - Brake Collision Avoidance System

The Honda Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) radar system operates in three different stages:

  1. the system recognizes imminent danger and activates optical and acoustic signals to alert the driver.
  2. if the driver does not react quickly, the system activates the electronic seat belt pre-tensioner, which warns him tactilely by making him feel a slight tension in the seat belt. At the same time, he begins to brake to reduce speed.
  3. if the system considers that an accident is now imminent, the electronic pretensioner forcibly retracts all seat belts, both the driver and passengers, in order to eliminate seat belt play or play due to bulky clothing. The brakes are applied decisively in order to reduce the speed of the impact and the possible consequences for the passengers.
