The cost of customs clearance of a car from Germany to Russia

Whatever new taxes and duties on cars are introduced in our country, many people prefer to buy used cars from Germany, rather than products of the domestic auto industry.

The explanation for this is very simple:

• Germany has very good roads;
• quality fuel in Germany;
• The Germans are very careful about their vehicles.

Well, the main reason is that the best cars in the world are produced in Germany. Someone may not agree with this, but in any case, German cars serve for several decades, passing from hand to hand.

We already wrote that with the right approach, you can buy a car from Germany, which will cost almost the same, or a little more than the same, but with mileage on Russian roads. In order not to overpay for a car, you need to know the current customs duties, as well as the procedure for customs clearance of cars. It is also necessary to decide in advance exactly how you will buy a car - go to the European Union on your own, order delivery from Germany, choose from cars that have already been brought in.

On German sites you can find a huge selection of a variety of cars. Usually, each car has two prices - with VAT and without VAT.

For non-EU residents, the price without VAT, that is, minus 18 percent, applies.

However, if you are driving to Germany on your own, then you need to take the full amount with you, and the difference of 18 percent will be returned to you when you cross the border in the opposite direction already with a car.

There is also such a thing as a customs deposit - this is the preliminary amount of all those duties that you will have to pay for customs clearance of the vehicle. If the deposit amount turns out to be more or less than the actual cost of customs clearance, then you either pay the missing funds, or the state returns the excess to you (although the refund procedure is quite complicated, so it’s better to calculate everything at once and accurately).

If you go to one of the car markets in Germany or go for a specific car, then you need to take care of additional costs: visa, tickets, accommodation, expenses for deregistration of the car, execution of a contract of sale, delivery of the car to Russia - on your own, by ferry and on vehicles.

All these are additional costs that significantly increase the final cost of the car. The cost of customs clearance of a car

All cars imported into the territory of the Russian Federation are divided into several categories:

• without run;
• 1-3 years old;
• 3-5 years old;
• 5-7 years and older.

Each of these categories has its own rates and tariffs.

The cost of customs clearance is affected by the volume of the car's engine. There are tables that indicate how much you need to pay for each cubic centimeter of engine capacity.

The cheapest cars are from the category of 3-5 years. Customs duty is calculated as follows:

• up to a thousand cm cube. - 1,5 euros per cube;
• up to 1500 cm cube - 1,7 euros;
• 1500-1800 - 2,5 euros;
• 1800-2300 - 2,7 euros;
• 2300-3000 - 3 euros;
• 3000 and more - 3,6 euros.

That is, the larger the engine size, the more we will have to pay for the import of such a car. Considering that most Golf-class cars have engines ranging from 1 liter to 1,5, it is easy to calculate how much customs clearance will cost.

Do not forget also that you will also have to pay a recycling fee, which for private cars is only three thousand rubles.

If you want to bring in a new car or one under the age of three, then you will have to pay a little according to a different scheme - the cost is already taken into account here:

• up to 8500 euros - 54 percent of the cost, but not less than 2,5 euros per cubic centimeter;
• 8500-16700 euros - 48 percent, but not less than 3,5 euros per cube.

For the most expensive new cars costing from 169 thousand euros, you need to pay 48 percent, but not less than 20 euros per cube. In a word, when buying a new car in Germany, you must immediately prepare another half of this amount in order to pay all taxes and duties due to the state.

If you buy a car older than 5 years, then for each cubic centimeter you will have to pay from three to 5,7 euros.

Interestingly, if you import a domestically produced car from abroad, then the duty on it will be 1 euro per cubic centimeter, regardless of age. It is known that domestic export cars differed from those produced for the domestic market in their improved technical characteristics.
