Oil pressure sensor on the Opel Vectra engine

Opel Vectra is a series of mid-size cars of the Opel brand. The line has three generations, which Opel designates in Latin letters A, B and C. The first generation with the letter "A" was launched in 1988 to replace the outdated Ascona and lasted 7 years until the 95th year. The next generation "B" was produced in 1995 - 2002. Restyling in 1999 improved and finalized the front and rear lights, trunk, small interior parts, door handles, door sills, etc. The last third generation "C" was produced from 2005 to 2009, and then it was replaced by the Insignia model.

Idle move

If the idle speed controller or IAC fails, the driver will be able to determine this by the unstable operation of the engine. Sometimes the engine stops randomly.

To replace the idle air valve, follow these steps:

  1. Remove the rubber corrugation that goes from the throttle assembly to the air filter, but first disconnect all wiring and free the tube connected to the antifreeze reservoir.
  2. After removing the corrugation, you can see the throttle valve, to which the idle speed sensor is screwed.
  3. Then unscrew and remove this valve. To do this, unplug the connector at the end near the cap, then use a hex wrench to unscrew the valve from its mounting location. If you have a non-standard valve, you will need a wrench of the correct size.
  4. Next, you need to disconnect the valve along with the throttle. Disassemble the IAC and replace it with a new one.

DMRV or mass air flow regulator provides the necessary air flow for the formation of a combustible mixture in the engine. The failure of the device will cause the engine speed to begin to float, and the engine itself may stall after a short trip. In addition, a malfunction may be indicated by the corresponding indicator on the computer.

In general, the procedure for replacing the DMRV is not particularly difficult:

  1. Find the regulator in the engine bay, a photo will help.
  2. The device is fixed on two clamps, they need to be unscrewed with a screwdriver.
  3. After loosening the clamps, the regulator can be removed, the cable can be disconnected and replaced with a new one.

The principle of operation of an electronic and mechanical device

Before you know how the oil pressure sensor works, you need to consider what elements it consists of.

Electronic controller circuit:

  • filter;
  • plug;
  • upstart;
  • pump transmission;
  • electrical terminals;
  • index.

How the mechanical controller works:

  • plug;
  • values;
  • spiral winding;
  • pointer indicator.

Working principle of electronic type oil pressure sensor:

  1. As soon as the driver starts the car, oil is supplied to the system.
  2. The oil filter tappet is activated automatically and the plug moves.
  3. The circuit opens and the signal goes to the oil sensor.
  4. The indicator lights up to inform the driver about the system status.

How a mechanical oil pressure sensor works:

  1. Under pressure in the line, the plug begins to move.
  2. Given the position of the plunger, the stem moves and acts on the pointer.
