The knock sensor is located in the cylinder block between the second and third cylinders. VAZ 2114 has an injector, 8 valves, access to it is very convenient. Symptoms of a failed knock sensor

If this sensor fails, symptoms such as:

1. Shaking car engine. The engine is constantly or intermittently compressed during operation. Sometimes it may seem that the car itself is moving.
2. Reducing the power of the power unit. The engine no longer pulls like it used to.
3. Increase in gasoline consumption. Fuel runs out faster. It takes more than before for the same run.
4. Increased engine operating temperature. The instrument panel shows a higher value after warming up.
5. Rapid heating of the power unit. The arrow on the device quickly reaches the desired indicator.
6. Persistent smell of gasoline in the cabin. The inside smells of gasoline for no apparent reason. There are no leaks or signs of leakage.

How to check DD on a VAZ 2114?

There are two ways to check DD. But first you just need to look under the hood and inspect the details. Sometimes you can notice wire breaks, oxidation of contact connections, contamination of parts, corrosion and other external defects. In the presence of visible damage, it will be necessary to change or clean the sensor, restore the wiring.

You can check the performance of the part without removing it from the car. For this you need:

• Engine starting;
• Keep the RPMs between 1500-2000. To do this, it is convenient to test with an assistant;
• Find DD and hunt him down;
• Take a small, light metal object and hit it several times. Every time you have to increase the effort a little. But you should not go to extremes;
• If the element is good, the engine speed should increase slightly.

If there is no change in speed, you can check the device with a multimeter or replace it immediately. Diagnostics using the device is performed as follows:

• Remove DD from the car;
• Set the multimeter to the voltmeter mode and set the limit to 200 millivolts;
• Connect the probes of the device to the contacts of the part;
• Insert a metal pin into the sensor hole;
• Touch the bolt with a screwdriver;
• When touched, the AC voltage on the meter display should increase. If there is no change, the sensor is faulty.

Detection of a malfunction of an element can be done independently. But if you have doubts about the cause of a car breakdown, it is recommended to visit a car service for diagnostics and repairs.

DD cost

The knock sensor cannot be repaired. When it fails, it is replaced. The part is sold in almost any spare parts store for VAZ. It costs an average of about 300 rubles. Its cost depends on the manufacturer. Do not buy the cheapest parts or the most expensive ones. High price does not mean high quality.
