Kia Rio temperature sensor

Often, when the cooling fan on the Kia Rio does not work, it is necessary to check the temperature sensor. In this case, knowing the location of the node is necessary for diagnosis and replacement.

Sensor location

The coolant temperature sensor is located on the right side of the cylinder head. Why is the cooling fan not working? The fan may not work, or there is no contact on the wire connection chip, or the fan motor has burned out. Its simplest check: disconnect the chip from the temperature sensor and turn on the ignition - the fan should work (if it does not work, then the problem is in the wiring or in the fan).

Sensor Diagnostics

There are a number of factors that indicate a malfunction of the temperature sensor. Consider what causes and diagnostic methods exist:

If the coolant temperature sensor is not working, check the fuses first.

If the temperature gauge shows excessively high or low temperatures, warm up the engine.

If the temperature sensor shows a high temperature when the engine is not yet warm, disconnect the wires from the sensor. If temperature fluctuations are observed, the sensor should be replaced. If the sensor shows a high temperature, then the wires are shorted.

If after warming up the engine the temperature sensor still does not work and the fuses have been checked, stop the engine. Disconnect the sensor cable and ground it to the motor housing. Turn on the ignition without starting the engine. If the sensor shows a high temperature, it must be replaced.

If the temperature sensor still does not work, then it is defective or there may be an open circuit.

Replacement

When the engine has completely cooled down, we find the location of the sensor and perform simple operations, namely:

  1. Disconnect the sensor from electricity.
  2. Prepare a new temperature sensor.
  3. Install a new sensor.
  4. Insert the sensor carefully and connect the wire harness.Kia Rio temperature sensor

Add coolant and start the engine. Check the system for leaks.

Hack and predictor Aviator

The Kia Rio coolant temperature sensor is located in the cylinder block. You can diagnose the assembly yourself, for this you just need to disassemble the automotive part.
