DRC - Dynamic Ride Control

The innovative Dynamic Ride Control (DRC) system is first introduced in the Audi RS 6. This integrated roll and pitch compensation system consists of a special damping system that immediately neutralizes body movements without electronic interference. When changing direction and cornering, the shock absorbers change in such a way as to significantly reduce the movement of the vehicle relative to the longitudinal axis (roll) and relative to the transverse axis (pitch).

The monotube shock absorbers on one side of the vehicle are diagonally connected to the shock absorbers on the opposite side by two separate oil lines, each with a central valve. Thanks to internal pistons with a gas chamber at the rear, the DRC valves located close to the rear axle provide the required expansion volume, cross the oil flow diagonally and therefore additional damping force.

The characteristic curve of the unilateral elastic dampers is then modified to substantially eliminate rolling or rolling. This highly sensitive damping system therefore guarantees the Audi RS 6 exceptional cornering precision.

On the other hand, in the case of an equilateral elastic deformation, a conventional shock absorber system operates. This ensures an unusually high rolling comfort for a sports car.

The DRC suspension provides outstanding agility, precise steering response and neutral handling, even when cornering at high speeds. In this way, the Audi RS 6 opens up a new dimension to the driving dynamics of road vehicles.

This is also facilitated by the electronic stability control, which is standard on the Audi RS 6. The latest generation of ESP is programmed for a distinctly sporty driving experience: even with a very dynamic gait, it is activated very late and is only activated for a short time.

ABS with EBV (Electronic Braking Force Distribution), EDS (Anti-Slip Start with Brake Intervention), ASR (Traction Control) and Yaw Control are integrated to form a comprehensive safety package. The MSR anti-lock braking system opens and closes the throttle valve, gradually adapting the engine braking effect to the current driving situation.
