Engine for World Champion // Test: Beta RR 2T 300 2020

They are entering the 2020 season with a completely new lineup that has significantly changed from previous models. This time, we tested what their flagships are capable of in a 300cc two-stroke enduro. See The Enduro range includes eight different models, from 125cc two-stroke to 480cc four-stroke, so everyone can find the right bike for them.

The first impression is good, the bike is tall and sleek, the plastics are nicely finished, the modern lines may even remind you a little of the Austrian competitor. Maybe some screw could be hidden somewhere nicer, but it's the same. The extra-wide handlebars sit nicely in your hands and soon make it clear that the Beta is a car for those taller because it sits high and is also very high when it comes to suspension and engine distance from the ground. . The seat is large, very comfortable and with a very good non-slip surface when going uphill or when accelerating. Because it stretches far forward towards the fuel cap, which can open a little more, the movement on the bike when you enter a turn is supreme because you can really load the front end well when entering a turn. It's also a good decision as you can get it through tight corners quickly because it has a slightly higher center of gravity than the competition. It requires a little more technical driving knowledge, but on the other hand, when driving over rocks or logs, climbing is better because you won't run into an obstacle with the frame or engine, which are otherwise well protected by the plastic shield. .

The KYB fork and Sachs shock are perfect for enduro use. Climbing the roots, swallowing small slides, rocks and stones is great. Also due to the low weight, since dry is only 103 kilograms. All this together also provides reliability and safety, as it holds a direction well at high speeds. I should note however that this is not a bike that anyone can ride, for a beginner the best choice would be say a 5cc or 200cc machine. Because when you open the throttle on the RR 250, things start to happen very quickly. A little carelessness with the throttle and a body position too far back leads straight to the rear wheel and the throttle needs to be off. That's why I wrote in the title that this is the custom motorcycle world champion. The only gripe with the engine is that on gravel roads you can feel tiny vibrations coming from the engine which get in the way a bit if I'm being really picky. But I was also surprised by the thirst for the engine. This is supposed to depend on the carb setting, but after two hours of enduro (not motocross) it was necessary to switch to reserve. The tank holds 300 liters of pure gasoline, as the mixture oil is poured into a separate container. However, the ratio is constantly changing depending on the needs or load of the engine.

The cavalry also shows up when climbing steep slopes, where the pleasure is top notch as you rush to the summit effortlessly. It also works well on slow climbs where second and third gear works wonders. Otherwise, third gear, which has a fairly wide range of power and torque, is ideal for enduro riding on forest trails. At higher rpm, you need to pay special attention to concentration and lines, because with all this power, everything happens very quickly. On high-speed roads from rubble, it flies through the air on a spiral gas. Easily glide over curves, allowing you to accurately line from edge to edge. The brakes are also powerful and stop reliably, but caution should be exercised at lower speeds because they are too sensitive, and the lever and pedal must be pressed in slippery areas with a greater sense of not blocking the wheel.

Quality workmanship, huge power, precise control at high speeds and reliable components are the trump cards that Beta is betting on, which somehow represents the Italian alternative to Austrian competitors. The price is also interesting as it is the cheapest racing enduro in its class on the market. It costs 2 euros from a specialist Moto Mali dealer in Radovljica, who also gave us a Beto RR 300T 8650 to test.
