South Korean engine builders have created another masterpiece of the power unit. They managed to master the production of a compact, light, economical and powerful enough engine that replaced the well-known G4FA.
Description
Developed in 2015 and successfully put into production, the new G4LC engine was created for installation in medium and small models of Korean cars. It is a gasoline in-line four-cylinder aspirated engine with a volume of 1,4 liters and a power of 100 hp with a torque of 132 Nm.
The engine was installed on KIA cars:
- Ceed JD (2015-2018);
- Rio FB (2016-XNUMX);
- Stonic (2017- n/vr.);
- Ceed 3 (2018-n/vr.).
For Hyundai vehicles:

The engine is part of the Kappa family. In comparison with its analogue from the Gamma family, it has a number of undeniable advantages.

Reliability
The high reliability of the G4LC internal combustion engine is beyond doubt. Despite the fact that the manufacturer claims a resource of 200 thousand km of the car, in reality it overlaps twice. This is confirmed by the reviews of car owners with such engines. For example, SV-R8 writes:

It must be borne in mind that these figures are relevant only for those units that are timely and fully serviced, and during operation, certified technical fluids are poured into their systems. Weaknesses in this engine have not yet appeared. Korean build quality is top notch.
Although, some motorists note the loud operation of the nozzles and the whistling noise of the alternator belt. There is no general approach to solving this issue. Everyone perceives these phenomena individually. But it is difficult to call the process of its operation a weak point of the engine.

Maintainability
No matter how hardy the motor is, sooner or later there comes a time when it has to be repaired. On G4LC, it occurs after 250-300 thousand km of car run.

In the most extreme case, you can use the services of dismantling. But in this case, you need to be prepared for the fact that the purchased part will not be of high quality.
