Engineers of the Renault auto concern, together with the designers of Nissan, have developed a new model of the power unit. In fact, the internal combustion engine is the twin brother of the famous Japanese MR16DDT engine.

Description

Another turbocharged engine, branded M5Mt, was first introduced in 2013 at the Tokyo Motor Show (Japan). The release was carried out at the Nissan Auto Global plant (Yokohama, Japan). Designed to equip popular models of Renault cars.

It is a 1,6-liter gasoline four-cylinder engine with a capacity of 150-205 hp. with a torque of 220-280 Nm, turbocharged.

The motor is equipped with an aluminum cylinder block, sleeved. The cylinder head is also aluminum, with two camshafts and 16 valves. A phase regulator is installed on each shaft. Hydraulic lifters are not provided. Thermal valve clearances are manually adjusted by selecting tappets.

Timing chain drive. Resource - 200 thousand km.

Unlike the MR16DDT, it has a proprietary electronic throttle, some changes in the ignition system and its own ECU firmware.
