In 2007, Toyota introduced a particularly powerful diesel unit for the Land Cruiser 200. Problems of the first years

Diesel engines of the first years of production often suffered from oil consumption, up to a liter per 1000 km. Usually the oil consumption disappeared after replacing the vacuum pump or oil separator. Even in the first versions with piezo injectors, pistons often melted from fuel overflow.

Some owners and even servicemen, when replacing the oil filter, threw away the aluminum bushing along with the old filter. As a result, the insides were crumpled and stopped leaking lubricant, which often turned into a turn of the liners.

Seizure in cylinders

Many copies are broken around the cause of severe cylinder wear and scoring. So far, the main hypothesis is intake contamination through the USR system and subsequent overheating of the engine, but many consider overly economical owners to be the culprit.

Other problems

The weak points of this motor include a not very durable water pump and turbines. And such a diesel engine is often chip-tuned, which greatly reduces its resource.
