The 1.6-liter 16-valve VAZ 21127 engine was first introduced only in 2013 and is a further development of the popular Togliatti power unit VAZ 21126. Thanks to the installation of a variable length intake receiver, the power increased from 98 to 106 hp.
The VAZ 16V line also includes: 11194, 21124, 21126, 21129, 21128 and 21179.

The well-known VAZ 21126 engine served as a donor for the new power unit. The main difference from its predecessor is the use of a modern intake system with dampers. Let's describe the principle of its work briefly. Air enters the cylinders in different ways: at high speeds it is directed along a long path, and at low speeds it is directed through a resonant chamber. Thus, the completeness of fuel combustion increases: i.e. power goes up, consumption goes down.
Its other difference is the rejection of the mass air flow sensor in favor of DBP + DTV. Installing a combination of absolute pressure and air temperature sensors instead of the DMRV saved owners from the common problem of floating idle speeds.
And the rest is a typical injection 16-valve VAZ unit, which is based on a cast-iron cylinder block. As on most modern Togliatti models, here is a lightweight Federal Mogul SHPG, and the timing belt from Gates is equipped with an automatic tensioner.
