Chevrolet Spark is a typical city car that belongs to the subcompact category. Under this brand is better known in America. In the rest of the world it is sold under the name Daewoo Matiz.

Currently produced by General Motors (Daewoo), located in South Korea. Part of the vehicles is assembled under license at some other car factories.

The second generation of engines is divided into M200 and M250. The M200 was first installed on the Spark in 2005. It differs from its predecessor with Daewoo Matiz (2nd generation) in reduced fuel consumption and a body with an improved drag coefficient. The M250 ICE, in turn, began to be used to assemble restyled Sparks with modified lighting fixtures.

The third generation of engines (M300) appeared on the market in 2010. Mounted on a body longer than its predecessor. A similar one will be used to create the Opel Agila and Suzuki Splash. In South Korea, the car is sold under the Daewoo Matiz Creative brand. The fourth generation Chevrolet Spark uses a 3rd generation internal combustion engine. It was introduced in 2015, and restyling was carried out in 2018. Changes have mainly undergone appearance. The technical stuffing has also improved. Android functions were added, the exterior was changed, the AEB system was added.

Motors installed on later versions of the Chevrolet Spark are in great demand. This is primarily due to the increased volume and, accordingly, power. Also, the choice of attention of motorists is influenced by improved dynamic characteristics. Equally important is the use of an improved chassis in the design.

The version of the car with a 1-liter engine and 68 horsepower (B10S1) repels at first glance with its low power. Despite this, it quite confidently copes with the movement of a car, which accelerates quite cheerfully and confidently moves off. The secret lies in the modified transmission, the development of which focused on lower gears. As a result, traction "on the bottom" improved, but overall speed was lost.

When reaching 60 km / h, the engine noticeably loses momentum. At 100 km / h, the speed finally stops increasing. Nevertheless, such dynamics is enough for comfortable movement in the city. At the same time, the use of manual transmission in the city is traditionally less convenient than the use of a car with automatic transmission. Fortunately, Spark with an automatic transmission is on sale, including in Russia.

The most powerful in the range of internal combustion engines is LL0 with 1,2 liters. From less voluminous "brothers" is not radically different. For a comfortable ride, you have to keep the engine at 4-5 thousand revolutions. At such speeds, not the best sound insulation manifests itself.

Popularity of the Chevrolet Spark

Spark is undoubtedly one of the leaders in its class. Since its inception, it has been improved in key areas. First of all, the wheelbase was increased (by 3 cm). Now tall passengers do not prop up the seats in front of the seated passengers with their feet. In the process of restyling, containers of various plans were added, designed for mobile phones, cigarettes, bottles of water and other belongings.

Engine tuning

An engine swap is considered almost useless by many automakers. Motorists first of all complain about the large weight of the internal combustion engine. Such work is incredibly complex, and not cheap. At the same time, a reinforced front suspension is additionally installed, and the brakes are being redone.

After installing turbines, power can increase by 50 percent. But there is one thing - the turbine heats up quickly and requires cooling. In addition, it can literally break the engine. In this regard, replacing the engine with the F18D3 is much safer.

Also, engines of 1,6 and 1,8 liters are installed on the Spark. It is proposed to replace the native engine with B15D2 and A14NET / NEL. In order to carry out such tuning, it is better to contact specialized automotive centers. Otherwise, there is a chance of simply spoiling the internal combustion engine.
