In our country, minivans are not very popular. At the same time, some models find great support among drivers. Such a case is the Chevrolet Rezzo.
This car has found its consumer among domestic motorists. Let's analyze it in more detail.
Chevrolet Rezzo review
This car was produced by the Korean company Daewoo, starting in 2000. It was created on the basis of the Nubira J100, it was a fairly successful sedan at that time. Since the Nubira J100 is a joint project, it can be said that engineers from different countries took part in the development of the minivan:
- the chassis was created in the UK;
- engine in Germany;
- the design was made by experts from Turin.
All together it formed a great car. It was well suited for family trips over any distance. Two configurations were offered, differing mainly in interior equipment.
Since 2004, a restyled version of the model has been produced. It basically differs only in appearance. In particular, the designers removed the angularity of the forms. As a result, the car began to look more modern.
Engines
Only one A16SMS power unit was installed on this model. All the differences between the modifications concerned primarily the comfort of the cabin and some additional options. In the table you can see all the main characteristics of the engine installed on the Chevrolet Rezzo.

If you need to check the engine number, it can be found on the engine block. It is located above the oil filter, just behind the left-hand outlet.
Typical malfunctions
There are no special problems with the motor, if you follow it in a timely manner, there are almost no breakdowns. The most vulnerable nodes:
- timing belt;
- Valve
- oil scraper rings.
Let's analyze them separately.
The timing belt needs to be replaced at a range of 60 thousand kilometers. But, often there are situations when it fails earlier. Be sure to check the condition of this node at each scheduled maintenance. If a break occurs, the following will be affected:
- Valve
- guides;
- pistons.
As a result, you will need to completely capitalize the motor.
Valves can burn through, they are made of not very resistant metal. As a result, we get burnt valves. Also, if the timing belt breaks or the timing system settings are knocked down, they can bend. Please note that you can find "sports" valves for this model on sale, they cost one and a half times more expensive, but at the same time they are more reliable and last longer.
Oil scraper rings tend to lie. This usually happens after a long stop. You can try to decoy them. But, this is not always possible to do.
The rest of the nodes are pretty reliable. Sometimes there are sensor failures, but this is generally an infrequent problem. Sometimes, under load, oil can eat up, the reason is in the same oil scraper rings and / or valve stem seals.
Maintainability
Accessories can be purchased without problems and restrictions. Moreover, their cost is low, which greatly simplifies the maintenance of the car. You can choose between original and contract parts.
There are no problems with repairs. All nodes are conveniently located, there is no need to disassemble half of the engine compartment to replace the oil filter. All repair work can be done in the garage, only a special machine is required to grind the crankshaft.
The most frequent scheduled work can be called the replacement of engine oil and filter. This work is done every 10000 kilometers. It is optimal to use gm 5w30 synthetic oil for replacement, it is recommended by the manufacturer. The filter can be taken from the Chevrolet Lanos if you cannot find the original one. Technically, they are identical.
The timing belt is replaced at about 60 miles. But, in practice, it is required earlier. Also be sure to check the condition of the fuel filter. Its clogging can lead to an increased load on the pump and its failure. To avoid problems, do not refuel at gas stations you do not know.
Tuning
Usually this power unit is simply boosted. Boring cylinders and doing other barbaric interventions is not worth it, since the metal of the block is thin and soft. As a result, there is a problem with boring.
When forcing, the following components are installed instead of the standard ones:
- electronic controller BORMAN Chip;
- receiver BORMAN BOOST;
- flywheel BORMAN S;
- ECO Sensor AFR;
- dismantling of the catalyst and installation of a stronger.
Be sure to calibrate and adjust. As a result, the acceleration speed increases by 15%, the maximum speed by 20%.
Sometimes they also produce chip tuning. In this case, by flashing the standard control unit, the engine power is increased. The main disadvantage is the accelerated wear of the motor components.
Most popular modifications
There were no modifications to the internal combustion engine; the A16SMS power unit was installed on all versions of the car. At the same time, all variants of the Chevrolet Rezzo have the same engine characteristics. Therefore, it is not worth discussing the choice of motorists in terms of evaluating the motor.
Due to the high level of reliability and comfort, drivers more often preferred to purchase Elite +. The car has a more comfortable interior. It also looks prettier on the road, and LED optics have also appeared here.
The best option is the 2004 version, which was produced after restyling. This version was purchased most often.
