Mazda FE series engines

Mazda FE engines in several versions: FE-DE, FE-ZE, FE, FE-E. The latter is the "youngest" version of the internal combustion engine. Delivered only to the Japanese and European automotive market.
The exception is New Zealand, where European-style cars were sold. FE motors were installed only on Mazda cars. The engine was used in the production of vehicles in South Africa - the Mazda 323 was assembled under license by Samcor from 1991 to 1994.
The Mazda FE engine was installed in various bodies. In addition to the usual coupes, hatchbacks and sedans, it was used on mid-size car platforms. The rest of the world got acquainted with the FE engine when selling the Kia Sportage (1995 to 2003). The car was built under license from Mazda.
For the first time, Kia used Japanese power units when assembling the Kia Concord in 1992. It was a slightly improved ICE model previously installed on the Mazda Capella.

The engine number is located at the junction of the head and block closer to the right side.
Maintainability and reliability
If desired, the unit is repaired without applying titanic efforts. Reliability at a high level. For example, Bongo Brawny is able to confidently carry a variety of weights: furniture, waste paper, cement, pipes, boards, bricks, and more. Operation for several tens of thousands of kilometers can take place without breakdowns.
Occasionally pads fail, it is necessary to change the automatic transmission oil of the engine. Even less frequently, component parts of the air conditioner, such as a bearing, fail. If necessary, the air filter is replaced or blown by the compressor. The last option, of course, is only a last resort.
The start of the Mazda Bongo Brawny engine, even in cold weather, is carried out without any problems. Except for the extreme cold. The only stove uncertainly copes with the heating of a large body. In general, the engine is unpretentious. Under the condition of the load of the body, it consumes relatively little fuel. The main thing is not to forget to change the oil filter and engine oil in time.

Change of oil
The following oils are recommended for FE engines:
- SG 10W-30
- SH 10W-30
- SJ 10W-30
Less often, motorists prefer oil with a viscosity of 0W-40. During the winter months, some drivers fill up with 5w30. Of the manufacturers, ESSO and Castrol oils are more often recommended.
Contract engine
A contract FE engine in good condition is found without any problems. Spare parts are traditionally supplied from the United States of America, Europe, Japan and the United Arab Emirates. The price of a contract engine is relatively affordable. Starts from 25 thousand rubles.
The warranty is more often provided for 2 weeks after receiving the motor. If necessary, if you are in the same city, installation is carried out, often at a discount to the buyer of the internal combustion engine. Sending is carried out to all regions of the Russian Federation. Payment is made by bank transfer or cash upon receipt at the point of issue.
Tuning
The FE engine is tuned if necessary. The cylinder block is bored and then lined. As a result, the volume increases and the power rises. When assembling, forged pistons are used. The cylinder head gasket is replaced from the standard one, which burns out, to a thicker one.
Swap
FE internal combustion engine changes to 1JZGE VVT-i. The latter refers to more reliable units, moreover, it is affordable in terms of cost and is more powerful than Mazda. Replacement in practice was carried out for the Mazda Bongo. The front and rear suspension was replaced, a 5,5-inch lift was made, the rear gearbox was welded, and the front one was replaced with a standard rear axle disc block. The engine mounts were redesigned for the new engine, and the gearbox remained stock from Bong. The bell was re-welded for mounting to the engine, and a standard disc, a lightweight basket and a flywheel were used in the clutch.
