Suzuki F10A, F5A, F5B, F6A, F6B engines
Content
Suzuki F10A, F5A, F5B, F6A, F6B engines were installed on all types of bodies, except, perhaps, a sedan. F10A is a small high-torque motor. Despite the small volume and not an impressive amount of horsepower, it is able to move a small minibus on any road.
Captivates with its power and reliability, combined with minimal fuel consumption.
The F10A was installed on the Suzuki Jimny, whose name literally translates as "large bag with wheels for goods." It was produced more than 30 years ago, but to this day it has many admirers. In Russia, cars with this internal combustion engine appeared in the 80s. Initially, a small power unit was not appreciated. Only with time did it become clear how valuable a small workaholic is, capable of enduring enormous loads.
The F5A is a smaller version of the F10A engine. Installed only on the suv body. Belongs to the category of reliable units. The power is enough for a small Jimny used as an SUV. The latter, after installing off-road tires and some preparation, quite confidently storms off-road.
The F5B engine was installed on small hatchbacks and minivans. Cars with such an engine have a corrosion-resistant body and are technically simple. Moderate fuel consumption allows you to significantly save on travel. Among the shortcomings, it is worth highlighting the high cost of spare parts, the lack of body parts for sale and the lack of information on repairs.
The F6A is just as reliable as previous versions of the engine. It is very difficult to find liners, new rings and repair kits for it on sale. Really buy sealant, oil, cylinder head gasket and other trifles. Therefore, there are not many people who want to carry out major repairs, and car owners stop at buying a contract engine. In turn, the Suzuki F6B is not very different from the F6A and therefore also not very popular.

Reliability, weaknesses and maintainability
The F10A is incredibly reliable and hardworking. With proper care, it is able to serve faithfully, rolling hundreds of thousands of kilometers. The only drawback is the high oil consumption, but this is only with a caveat. "Zhor" oil is observed only while driving at high speeds, which is often found in other car brands. Using the right viscosity oil and timely maintenance ensures that the fluid stays at the same level.
The F10A engine also suffers from another drawback - the valve stem seals fail. The carburetor engine suffers from the “diseases” characteristic of this type of unit. For example, the engine may stall after switching the box to neutral. The malfunction is associated with a sharp closing of the throttle valve, blocking the access of air when there is no fuel mixture.
If the carburetor malfunctions, the throttle lock helps. In extreme cases, the carburetor is replaced. It is curious that there are domestic analogues for this unit. An Oka carburetor is suitable for the F10A, which can be installed in a maximum of 1-2 days in a garage.
In general, the F10A is able to surprise any motorist with its cross-country ability. Forty horsepower confidently pulls a car out of viscous clay or a snowdrift. Such work capacity pays for the lack of high speed. The cruising speed is 80 km/h.
F5A was installed on Suzuki Jimny until 1990. Often in this version, the car has through holes from rust on certain parts of the body. The engine turbine may be turned off. The engine is only a stretch enough for fast movement on fishing or hunting.
Often the F5A is replaced with a 1,6-liter Suzuki Escudo power unit. The motor is expensive to maintain. After buying a car requires numerous improvements. Suzuki Jimny with such an engine, due to its age, often needs serious repairs to the running gear, brake system, and turbine.
The F5A often needs spark plug changes and carburetor adjustments. For off-road use, the installation of an electric winch is recommended, since the car's patency is not the highest. A number of shortcomings are complemented by simply huge fuel consumption, and this is with such small dimensions. Gluttony is incredibly increased when driving off-road.
The F5B was installed on such an interesting car as the Suzuki Alto, which looks similar to the familiar Oka. The motor cannot be characterized as particularly reliable. Fortunately, the internal combustion engine is easy to overhaul. And the repair itself in a car service is relatively inexpensive.
F6A is the least popular engine. In Russia, it is practically not found. It was installed on a Suzuki Cervo car for only two years - from 1995 to 1997. The lack of information and low demand also affected the availability of spare parts and manuals for repairs. Therefore, it is almost impossible to meet an internal combustion engine at least for familiarization.
Suzuki F10A, F5A, F5B, F6A, F6B engines were produced until 2005. For this reason, they are becoming rarer. In this regard, it is becoming more and more difficult to find the necessary components and repair kits every year. Usually analogues or similar units are taken from Toyota, VAZ, Volga and Oka.

Buying a contract motor
The purchase of a contract ICE, for example, the F10A, is rarely required, since a major overhaul often helps to resurrect the engine. But in case such a need arose, it is worth choosing a product from the USA, Japan or Europe.
Such engines differ significantly from units with mileage in Russia. In this case, the F10A is in excellent condition, since during its operation high-quality fuel was used and timely repairs were carried out.
The contract engine is able to revive a small car. The unit is always 100% working, tested for performance. Often supplied with attachments.
Fast delivery is carried out by proven transport companies. On average, the price of a contract ICE is 40-50 thousand rubles. A working engine without a guarantee is sold for 25 thousand rubles.
What oil to fill in the engine
For Suzuki F10A, F5A, F5B, F6A, F6B engines, the manufacturer recommends oil with a viscosity of 5w30. It is better to give preference to semi-synthetics. This oil is suitable for use all year round. Some motorists recommend filling in oil with a viscosity of 0w30 for the winter. Least of all, motorists recommend filling in oil with a viscosity of 5w40.
