  3. Resource. It is believed that 8AR-FTS is capable of running 200 km, and 000AR-FSE - about 6 km. And that's all, major repairs to these engines are not allowed.
  4. Sounds on cold start. When warmed up, a ringing or slight knocking is heard. This is a design feature of the units.
  5. Expensive service. In the recommendations you will find only original components for maintenance, which will turn out to be an expensive pleasure.

The biggest drawback is the resource. After 200 km, it makes no sense to carry out repairs and expensive service for a unit with a turbine, you will need to look for a replacement for it. This is a difficult task, since contract motors may not be available, given their poor resource. The non-turbocharged engine dies a little later, but this mileage is not enough for active operation.

How to tune AR engines?

In the case of a turbocharged engine, there is no chance of increasing power. Toyota has pushed the potential of the 2-litre engine to its full potential. Various offices offer chip tuning with an increase of 30-40 horses, but all these results will remain on reports and pieces of paper, in reality there will be no difference.

In the case of the FSE, you can supply a turbine from the same FTS. But it will be cheaper and easier to sell a car and buy another with a turbo engine.
