The expert hacked the software of the Tesla Model 3 inverter. Now he sells a package that increases the power cheaper than Tesla • ELECTROMAGNETS

Canadian car dealership and electric car repair shop owner Guillaume André managed to infiltrate the Tesla Model 3 inverter control program. He reconfigured a single-axis drive (RWD) version to support two motors (AWD). he also created the Boost 50 device, thanks to which the parameters of the car can be increased.

Equivalent to the Acceleration Boost package, cheaper than the manufacturer

Tesla Acceleration Boost Package provides the best acceleration for Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD. After purchase, the acceleration time to 100 km / h should be reduced from 4,6 to 4,1 seconds. The downside is the cost: for this not very practical accessory you will have to pay 2 dollars (equivalent to 7,8 zlotys) or 1,8 euros.

The aforementioned Canadian found a way to increase the power of the car without paying Tesla any fee: he learned how to modify the inverter software. He turned this skill into a business, he started selling the Boost 50 device, which increases the power of the Tesla Model 3 LR AWD by 50 horsepower and reduces the acceleration time to 100 km / h to just 3,8 seconds (source).

Tesla offers Acceleration Boost for US $ 2, while Canadian company Ingenext sells Boost 50 for US $ 1,1 (equivalent to PLN 4,3). Besides better overclocking, the device:

• improves the car's reaction to pressing the accelerator pedal,
• allows you to activate the "drift" mode, in which the traction control system is disabled,
• allows you to control the heating of the battery and unlock the doors when the owner approaches the car from the web interface level.

The device is connected to a multimedia computer (MCU), no additional operations are required. Its connection, according to the developer, does not block software updates.

Boost 50 was created on the occasion of a larger and more interesting project: André took it upon himself to equip the Tesla Model 3 Long Range RWD (74 kWh rear-wheel drive) with a second engine to make it a four-wheel drive version. The tampering with the car was serious: they changed the battery, because the original did not have connectors for the front engine. The inverter software was also modified to supply voltage to both axles, although it usually only worked on the rear.

This modification costs $ 7 and results in a loss of warranty by the owner of the machine, and the machine will no longer receive software updates. In return, he gets an additional front-wheel drive:
