Electric mountain bike: Specialized unveils new Turbo Levo in Paris

Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, the new Specialized model features a 700 Wh battery and a new Brose engine.

Three years after entering the electric mountain bike market, Californian manufacturer Specialized is unveiling the 2019 vintage Turbo Levo at the Mondial de la Moto in Paris.

Inspired by the Stumpjumer, this full suspension electric mountain bike is mounted on wheels and has improved performance.

700 Wh battery and lightweight motor

The new Turbo Levo engine, developed in collaboration with Brose, has a magnesium casing and is attached directly to the frame. Lightweight by 15%, it weighs only 3.0kg and claims to be able to pedaling up to 410%. At maximum, the electric motor develops up to 560 W and 90 Nm.

As for the battery, the capacity of the lithium-ion unit is increased by 40%. It now reaches 700 Wh (500 Wh for the old model) and goes straight to the bottom tube. There are three assistance modes available when in use (Eco, Trail and Turbo) and those looking to estimate their range can use the new Turbo Range Calculator app to calculate it based on a specific route.

Available in 5 models and available from mid-September, the Specialized Levo 2019 range starts at € 4449 for the FSR model with a 500 Wh battery and rises to € 10.999 for an FSR S-Works with a 700 Wh battery, depending on the frame in the Fact 11M. fibers, carbon rims and connecting rods, and Sram XX1 drivetrain.
