Electric Motorcycle: KTM Approaches Indian Bajaj

In a new collaboration, the Austrian brand KTM and India's Bajaj want to develop a common electrical platform that could begin production as early as 2022.

Based on electric scooters and motorcycles, the official collaboration between the two manufacturers is aimed at cars with a power range from 3 to 10 kW. Idea: to develop a common platform that could be used on the electric models of the two brands.

The partnership, which does not take place immediately after the start of production of the first vehicles as a result of the partnership, is not expected until 2022. Manufacturing will be carried out by Bajaj at its facility in Pune, in the Indian state of Maharashtra.

For KTM, this strategic alliance represents an additional step in the field of e-mobility and a "logical addition" to the electrical activities already launched by the group through various brands including Husqvarna and Pexco.

Note that the two manufacturers are not their first collaboration. Bajaj, which currently owns 48% of the Austrian group, already produces several petrol motorcycles for the KTM and Husqvarna brands for the international market.
