Electric motorcycle: Swedish Cake launches new sports line

The Swedish manufacturer CAKE, well known for its electric motorcycles with sometimes atypical looks, has officially announced the launch of a new RACE range designed for the most sporty applications.

A true UFO in the electric motorcycle segment, Swedish CAKE recently unveiled its latest innovations at CAKEMA, a virtual event to replace the traditional EICMA canceled due to the health crisis.

If the manufacturer did not reveal the new model, it announced the arrival of a new line called Kalk Race. Using the same technical configuration as the existing Kalk series, the Race versions feature many changes made to its cycling part. The program includes special wheels and rims, new body parts, fork guards and tires designed for more sporty use. As for the electrical part, there is no change from the 11 kW motor to the 2.6 kWh battery (51.8 V - 50 Ah). That allows you to develop a maximum speed of up to 90 km / h and a theoretical autonomy of up to 3 hours in operation.

From March 2021, the new RACE line is expected to be available in two models: Kalk OR RACE and Kalk INK RACE. These two versions, sold respectively from 10.500 13.500 and 78 3 euros, differ in certain equipment related to the bicycle part, as well as their weight. While OR RACE is 75kg, INK Race is 2100kg less (XNUMXkg). CAKE does not forget the customers who already have a Kalk electric motorcycle and offers the RACE kit at the price of € XNUMX.

For the rest of the range, the changes are minor and focused on the cyclical portion. Thus, INK and Kalk receive new 19-inch Town and Trail tires, developed in collaboration with Kenda, as well as an updated fender made of polypropylene. The program also includes new cable glands, improved engine sensors and a new belt system.

First steps in the competition

To support the launch of its sports line, Cake is competing with the creation of an international championship. Called the CAKE One Design Race, it will test the brand's models in several races, the first of which took place in early September in Saint-Tropez. If the health crisis allows, other dates are planned for 2021.
