Tripl electric tricycle hits DPD park

In Germany, DPD uses eight Tripl units for deliveries to the cities of Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne.

Designed by Danish manufacturer EWII, the Tripl electric tricycle continues to seduce professionals. After an initial experiment with GLS in May, DPD chose a tricycle for delivery to the city center. A compact car has a definite advantage over conventional vehicles, which need to constantly look for places and parking spaces. So much time and energy has been saved for the delivery staff who can drive as close to the delivery location as possible.

« Delivery to the city center is one of the biggest challenges for parcel delivery services like DPD. ”, explains Gerd Seber from DPD in Germany. “ As the number of parcels increases rapidly, traffic in city centers is becoming increasingly dense. This is where our TRIPLs can help us progress in crowded and overcrowded cities. “. According to DPD, TRIPL makes many more stops per hour in a densely populated urban area than conventional utilities.

Added to this are the practical advantages of the Tripl: its zero-emission operation allows it to reach areas normally closed to thermal vehicles.

In Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne, Tripl is used in city centers for tours where only one or two packages are delivered per stop. Basically, this is a matter of servicing specific recipients, who in most cases receive compact and few parcels.

Able to reach a top speed of 45 km / h, the Tripl has a range of 80 to 100 kilometers. Its useful volume can be up to 750 liters, which can accommodate about fifty small packages. However, when traveling, Tripl drivers are forced to take regular shuttles from micro-depots located in urban areas to pick up new parcels for delivery.
