In 2021, the bonus on the purchase of an electric motorcycle could rise to 900 euros. This financial aid can be supplemented by a conversion bonus in the event of an old gasoline or diesel vehicle being scrapped.

Conditions for obtaining a premium electric motorcycle 2021

To take advantage of the bonus, the purchased electric motorcycle must be new. It cannot be sold for a year after its first registration or before it has driven at least 1 kilometer. Rental solutions are also eligible for a bonus, provided that the contract is concluded for a period of at least two years.

On the technical side, government aid does not include all vehicles equipped with lead acid batteries.

What's the 2021 bonus for electric motorcycles?

The amount of assistance for buying an electric motorcycle will depend on the power of the car;

• For an electric motorcycle less than 2 kW (EU regulation 168/2013) or 3 kW (directive 2002/24 / EC), assistance is limited to 100 euros and cannot exceed 20% of the cost of the car, including VAT.
• For an electric motorcycle with a power of at least 2 kW (EU regulation 168/2013) or 3 kW (directive 2002/24 / EC), help will depend on the energy capacity of the battery. It can go up to 900 euros within 27% of the purchase price, including VAT of the car.

Bonus calculation for an electric motorcycle with a power of at least 2 kW

In the case of an electric motorcycle with a power of at least 2 kW (EU regulation 168/2013) or 3 kW (directive 2002/24 / EC), the amount of the premium will depend on the energy capacity of the battery, expressed in kWh.

For those who do not indicate the value in the product data sheet, it is quite easy to find it. Just take the voltage and amperage of the battery to determine its capacity: thus, a 72 V 40 Ah battery corresponds to 2880 Wh (72 × 40) or 2.88 kWh.

The amount of the allocated aid corresponds to 250 EUR / kWh. In all cases, the bonus will be limited to 27% of the purchase price, including VAT of the vehicle, and the amount allocated cannot exceed 900 euros. Below are some examples of some of the models on the market.

How do I get the Electric Motorcycle Bonus?

There are two solutions for receiving government assistance. In the simplest scenario, the dealer who sells you the motorcycle makes an advance (the bonus is deducted from the invoice) and then takes steps to recover the subsidy. So you don't have to do anything

In the second case, you have to ask for an insurance premium and therefore make an advance when purchasing an electric motorcycle. The steps to claim the bonus must then be completed with the Payment Service Agency (ASP), which provides file tracking and bonus payment on behalf of the state.

Are there additional aids when buying an electric motorcycle?
