In accordance with European commitments, technical controls for motorized two-wheeled vehicles will come into force in 2023. Electrical models are also affected.

Inspection for passenger cars has been in place for many years, and inspection will soon become mandatory for motorized two-wheelers. Decree 9-2021, published on August 1062 in the Official Journal, defines the implementation of the new system. The introduction of technical controls for two-wheeled vehicles in France, announced in 2015 by the government of Manuel Valls, is in line with the European directive.
