Electric bike - do it yourself - how to make? Charging while driving, reviews

Electric bicycles are gaining popularity - there are no less than a dozen electric assist systems that a cyclist can use while riding. Find out how to make an e-bike and if it is profitable to own one.

Electric bike

The electric drive is mainly used in city bicycles. Thanks to the electric motor, it is possible to overcome heavier, for example steeper routes with absolutely no effort. It is ideal for seniors. For a bicycle to be electric, it must have a battery, an electric motor, a sensor that monitors the engine's operation, and a special computer mounted on the steering wheel, thanks to which the entire system can be easily controlled.

Electric bike - how to make?

It turns out that almost any traditional bicycle can become an electric bike. This can be done with a suitable motor and battery. The most important thing is to choose the right drive. It is possible to use a central drive via a motor integrated with a crank arm and pedals - since the engine power is transmitted directly to the chain, the electric bike can pedal at high speed with low crank RPM. ... Another option is to mount the engine to the front wheel (this is the most common system). During pedaling, the sensor from the wheel sends a signal to the motor, which, when turned on, maintains the rotation of the wheel. It is also possible to install the drive on the rear wheel. This option is recommended primarily for mountain bikes.

Electric bike - charging while driving

A standard e-bike power source is powered by a battery that is usually charged from a regular outlet. Charging takes about 2-3 hours, and its cost ranges from 50 grosz to 1 zloty. The range of a bike depends on both the battery and the rider's weight or riding speed, but most often it ranges from 30 to 120 kilometers. You can also charge your bike at dedicated battery charging stations.

Electric bike - reviews

Opinions about the e-bike are divided. Some people think this equipment is only suitable for short trips, commuting or shopping due to its limited lifespan. In addition, an electric bike weighs quite a lot - the battery itself with a motor is about 5-7 kilograms. Lifting equipment from a high floor can be very problematic. It's worth noting, however, that an e-bike is much easier, especially for those who don't like or can't get tired.
