Cadillac Escalade for Australia?

The iconic Cadillac Escalade could be launched in Australia after GM quietly registered the Cadillac trademark and badge for our market last year.

Although the brand has yet to publicly comment on its intentions with Cadillac for our market - although it has publicly confirmed its interest in launching the famous marque here several times in the past - Cars Guide understands that Escalade will be of interest in our market.

Perhaps more importantly Cars Guide I also understand that for the Cadillac brand in Australia, it is increasingly becoming a question of when, and not if, all signs point to the iconic brand finally coming to our market.

Speculation pointed to fire-breathing performance Cadillacs like the CT4-V and CT5-V Blackwing as the stars of the new lineup, but the buzz is now turning to the Escalade as an import headline.

The car will be prepared for our market through the newly created GMSV and delivered through this network.

The GMSV brand continues to take shape in Australia, with a lineup that includes the Silverado but will also get the new Corvette and may even import the new Chevrolet Tahoe SUV.

However, the Escalade would be something completely different. A true icon of the US, the big SUV can also work in Australia, where it will be equipped with a 3.0-liter diesel engine or a powerful 6.2-liter V8 engine.

At around $77, it's not cheap - and that's before you add in the shipping and conversion costs that must be applied in Australia. But the flagship Cadillac does get a lot of stuff, and what's more, equipped with optional 22-inch alloy wheels, it looks business-like too.
