2022 Hyundai Staria Review: An Elite Shot

The Hyundai Staria is an all-new vehicle from the brand that operates on the same basic principles as the Santa Fe SUV. Elite is the mid-range trim level, priced from $56,500 for the petrol variant and $59,500 for the diesel variant.

The petrol engine is a 3.5 kW/6 Nm 200-liter V331 with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel delivers 130kW/400Nm, and there's also an eight-speed automatic transmission, but with all-wheel drive. 

Fuel consumption is estimated at 10.5 liters per 100 km for petrol and 8.2 l/100 km for diesel.

The list of standard equipment for the Elite is long and includes 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and taillights, keyless entry and ignition, power sliding doors, multi-angle parking cameras, three-zone air conditioning (covering all three rows), leather trim, stereo system with six speakers and a 10.2-inch touchscreen with built-in navigation, but with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless smartphone charging cradle.

Safety features include seven airbags, including curtain airbags that cover both second and third row occupants, and Hyundai's SmartSense suite of active safety features, which includes forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, blind spot avoidance, lane keeping, lane keeping assistance. , Rear Collision Avoidance, Rear Passenger Alert, Safe Exit Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control and Safe Exit Assist.

Although based on new SUV fundamentals, the Staria is still shaped like a van, providing a very spacious and practical interior. The Elite is equipped with eight seats - two individual seats in the first row and three-seat benches in the second and third rows. Trunk volume is 831 liters when using the third row.

Hyundai offers the usual five-year, unlimited-mileage warranty and a limited-price service program for the entire Staria Elite lineup.
