KIA Motors Polska has just released an updated Sportage model. Its predecessor has found 2004 125 buyers since its launch in Europe in 000 and, along with the larger Sorento, has played a key role in raising KIA's brand awareness in that region of the world. Last year, production of European versions of the Sportage was moved from Korea to Kia's new plant in Zilina, Slovakia, where the Ceed is also built.
The most important exterior changes refreshing the look of the exterior include: restyled grille and headlights, two-tone front and rear bumpers, new wheel arches, dual tailpipes on all model variants, new 16-inch alloy wheels and 215/65 R16 tires or 235/55 R17 for Expedition and Freedom.
Improvements and changes also included, in particular, a more direct centering of the steering system and stronger shock absorbers - to improve driving performance and reduce body roll. Thanks to front ventilated brake discs with a diameter increased to 300 mm, the braking distance should have been reduced, and, according to KIA Motors Polska, now it will take 100 meters to stop from 41,6 km / h, which would make the Sportage FL one of the best cars in its class. class.
Optimization of the exterior mirror housings and sunroof seals helped reduce aerodynamic noise. Compared to the predecessor model, the drawbar pull (drawing weight of the trailer) has increased by 12,5% and is now 1800 kg.
In the interior of the updated Sportage, the most significant new feature is the factory-installed RDS radio system with CD player, AUX and USB connections in a suitably redesigned center console. The steering wheel rim is thicker and provides a better feel and driving comfort. The car also received a new design of the air conditioning control panel and new fabric upholstery patterns. The front passenger airbag has a switch that allows you to install a rear-facing child seat. All versions of the car have improved anti-theft protection.
The seats in the cab of the new Sportage have also been modified to meet the requirements of European customers. Already last autumn, the length and width of the front seat cushions were increased (by 40 and 20 mm, respectively), the contours and rigidity of the rear seats were changed - and their height was reduced by 5 mm to increase headroom for passengers.
We can choose from 10 exterior colors and two interior colors - Flesh Beige and Saturn Black. Eight available exterior colors (including six metallic ones) are also available in the Ceed lineup. The offer includes two of the most popular metallic colors of the previous Sportage, Greyish Silver and Smart Blue.
Thanks to the unique Rotation Dipping Painting process, which involves the longitudinal rotation of the body during electroplating, as well as the excellent quality of KIA vehicles manufactured at the plant in Zilina in Slovakia, all Sportage FL models are covered by a 7-year warranty on transmissions and 5 years on the entire vehicle ( or mileage of 150 km).
