Parts: Moto Guzzi Stelvio NTX ABS

Before we start figuring out how affordable the NTX package really is, it should be said that Stelvio is mostly not cheap (base price is 13.610 € 11.490 and the special price at Avto Triglav is XNUMX €), which discourages many people from buying.

Not that it doesn't cost money, because for that amount you will get a good motorcycle with Italian charm and a badge with a red eagle, which is worth something in the motorcycle world, no matter if it is cheaper for some George ...

What if they wrap up the base Guzzi with quality accessories that adventure seekers need anyway, and value everything "just" a thousand more than the base version? The package might be interesting. The way it is!

The NTX version (in the 80s and 90s under the acronym called Guzzi enduro cars with volumes of 350, 650 and 750 cubic feet) received a different color, aluminum crankcase and steel tubular cylinder protection, and also protected the driver from bad weather. Hands.

At night and in fog, there will be additional headlights that we turn on separately on the steering wheel, and the rear rim is only 5 inches wide instead of 5, so the Guzzi can be shod off. road tires if you want to leave the tarmac behind.

Thanks to a larger air filter chamber and a redesigned camshaft, maximum torque has been increased by five Newton meters and reduced by 600 rpm. Standard ABS is switchable and the seat and windscreen are height adjustable.

If you plan on touring the field, the Stelvia's advantage (which we know which competitors are) is that it has the classic suspension elements bolted onto it, that is, a pair of five centimeters thick legs at the front and a shock absorber attached to one swing arm at the rear.

Considering the size and weight of Stelvia on the ground, such a package does not cause headaches and goes well over bumps, while not “floating” on the road (too much). It would be interesting to make a side-by-side comparison with a German competitor, but first impressions suggest that the Guzzi does not lag behind on the road, and even better.

The large two-cylinder engine fits very well into the overall package. It vibrates nicely, pulls gently, and pulls well when we rotate it five thousandths towards the red square that starts at 8.000. Probably, the group of "plastics" did not quite understand how a group of Gutsists could take turns under the "Marmolada" at such an hour.

Despite the classic engine design, the Stelvio can be very fast, and still perfectly lacks a Newton meter in the lower half of the revs. As standard, it comes with a multifunctional on-board computer with data on outside temperature, average consumption and speed, driving time, maximum speed, current speed is displayed digitally, rpm is analog. Aprilia's mirrors are large, albeit short.

You shouldn't expect motorcyclists to embrace the NTX en masse, but still, the Italian product offers a lot to the romantic traveler.

A little joke: do you know what a boxer BMW is? Guzzi with saggy tits.

First impression

Appearance 3/5

It's easy to guess for whom Italians eat cabbage. Yes, GS is ugly too, but they like it anyway. At Guzzi, we pay more attention to design details.

Motor 5/5

Flexible, durable, with good gearbox and no annoying vibrations. At lower revs, it still lacks a Newton meter, but it still deserves an A in the travel and adventure package.

Comfort 5/5

The position behind the wide handlebars is regal, the adjustable windshield is good, and the passenger has nothing to complain about either thanks to the large seat and large handlebars.

Price 3/5

For a thousandth, how much more expensive it is than a regular Stelvio, the buyer gets a lot, but we still expect the Guzzi to be cheaper for George and therefore more competitive in the market.

First class 4/5

No lie - the Stelvio NTX is a good touring enduro, but what if they want a hefty ton of money for it. Being Italian may or may not be an advantage, depending on one's taste.
