Fiat Punto Evo 1.4 Multiair 16v S&S Fun

An old proverb says that every painter has his own eyes, so let's say very briefly about the appearance: bravo, Fiat.

It's hard to find a match for Punto Evo when he flirts like that in a tailored red, gray and black suit. Maybe we can put a cousin from Alpha magazines next to it, but certainly not dry German or more or less broken French cars - with rare exceptions.

Do you agree? Great, I'm looking forward to it. Do you disagree? Better yet, if we are all on the same side of the boat, it will tip over. And the world would be very boring if everyone liked the same thing.

Punto evoluzione (if we can be a little poetically free) does not disappoint even on the inside. The materials are much better than their predecessors, especially if they are made in a combination of black and red. This is why you will love the leather steering wheel and gear lever with red stitching.

The power steering can be adapted for city driving with the City program, which makes steering easy (hehe, welcome, especially her gentle hands when maneuvering between fashion accessory stores), but we can also help ourselves with the “classic”. 'more modest power steering, more suitable for stronger boys.

And if they are happy, they will not be happy, because the driving feeling is still too indirect. And that's a shame, as the chassis and engine combination has definitely grown to be a sportier owner. Of course, there is still a lot of room for improvement.

Let's say the driving position is more colorful on the skin of Italian drivers, who are known for their modest stature, but it doesn't allow for a low sporting stance like some of its German rivals. Like turning on the wipers by turning a lever on the steering wheel, it could already go down in history, not to mention a one-way trip computer.

These are minor whims, but over time they start to get boring. Will we have to wait for Punta Eva 2 after Punta, Grande Punta and Punta Evo? Maybe it will be called Seconda generazione, after the local second generation?

But we need to highlight the navigation; although it just peeks casually out of the dashboard, it blends in well with the interior and further enhances the seating experience in a higher-end vehicle.

Despite its modest volume, the engine does not disappoint, as it bravely pulls from the basement, but still prefers to live on the upper floors. It is only at higher revs that it really wakes up, demonstrates the joy of exercise and, despite the increased noise, contributes to driver inspiration.

Multair (Variable Power Valve Movement and Throttle Off) is no longer a new feature, as the redesigned power supply provides independence at all speeds, as well as lower fuel consumption and lower emissions.

Hmm, you can talk about lower fuel consumption only with a very soft right leg, otherwise with a dynamic driver you will have to count on 11-12 liters per 100 kilometers. However, if she takes you to the sea, you can easily save on cappuccino, and when you get home, you can head to McDonald's for a bite to eat.

The S&S system, which cuts the engine off during short stops, works very well and does not get in the way, although you are not used to this kind of economy.

If your sweetheart somehow wants to take you to her fancy shops, get behind the wheel and buy a Yamaha scarf or Ferrari hat. You know Fiat participates in both MotoGP competitions and (indirectly) in F1. You will also look good in sportswear in this car.

evaluation

  • You fall in love with the Fiat Punta Evo on the first date, and then, as a typical amateur, you do not notice some of its mistakes. For example, with this engine, you deliberately lose sight of the increased fuel consumption.
