Fiat Sedici 1.6 16V 4 × 4 dynamic

It all started in 2005 when Suzuki and Italdesigen teamed up to put a pretty cute little SUV on the road in terms of design, offering pretty much everything that buyers have come to expect from these vehicles.

Ease of use in urban environments, four-wheel drive, increased height above the ground, easy entry and exit, and last but not least, a practical interior, sufficient to meet the needs of more active people. In short, the drivers who are also coveted in Europe, and especially in Italy, are a significant circle of people that Fiat did not have in the program before.

"Why not?" - said in Turin, and the Suzuki SX4 turned into a Fiat Sedici. Associated member of the family has already made it clear by his appearance that he is not closely related to other Fiats. And this feeling remains even when you sit in it. Inside, apart from the badge on the steering wheel, you will not find very many things that would remind you of his brothers. But to be honest, the Sedici is by no means a bad Fiat.

Some will complain that due to the renovation this year, they like the nose less than they do. And the truth is, this one is really quieter now than the last one, so they'll be impressed with the new counters, which are more transparent and also illuminate during the day.

It can be annoying if you're one of those people who forgets to turn on the headlights when starting the engine, as the Sedici, unlike other Fiat daytime running lights, doesn't know, but once you get used to it, you'll also get used to the button between the sensors. from a rather modest on-board computer (further proof that this is not a thoroughbred Fiat), as well as excellent finishes, carefully selected materials in the interior, adapted to the purpose of the car, and a useful four. all-wheel drive, which does not require special knowledge from the driver.

Basically, the Sedicija only drives the front pair of wheels, and if you don't need all-wheel drive, but you like the Sedica, you might want to think about it in this version as well. Well, all-wheel drive has a switch on the middle ridge, next to the parking brake lever, which allows you to switch from two-wheel to automatically controlled four-wheel drive (from the front wheels, torque is transmitted to the rear ones only when necessary.) And permanent four-wheel drive up to 60 km / h constantly transfers power in a ratio of 50: 50 to both wheelsets.

In short, a super useful creator that does not require excessive additional costs, especially when it comes to fuel consumption in everyday driving.

Since the mentioned topic has recently been very relevant, along with the design update, we decided to slightly update the Sedici engine range. Unfortunately, half, because only the Fiat diesel engine is new, which has a displacement of one deciliter than the previous (2.0 JTD), 99 kW and meets Euro V.

And, unfortunately or incomprehensibly, from the Avto Triglav company, which sent us a Sedition for testing with the already known Suzuki gasoline engine, which is why we were not able to test the new product. Will be another time and in a different model.

However, it can be said that the Sedici is also quite sovereign on the roads with the Suzuki engine. As is the case with most Japanese engines, this is a typical 16-valve unit that really only comes alive in the upper operating range, but interestingly, it remains quite quiet, only the price per liter of unleaded fuel will be necessary if you are using cars in the range. its maximum power (79 kW / 107 hp), multiplied by 100, 10 every 1 kilometer.

This, however, is not at all superfluous for a small SUV, which is additionally raised above the ground and also offers all-wheel drive. Especially if you think that for an equally equipped sedan with a diesel engine in the nose, you will have to pull an extra four thousand euros out of your wallet, which you definitely cannot justify for its service life only by the difference in fuel. consumption and price.

What can I say in the end? Although he is not a purebred Fiat and will never become a swan among his brothers, Sedici still stands out. The fact that his story is becoming more and more similar to that of Andersen is evidenced by the new available color. This is not a white swan, it is a pearl bianco perlato.

evaluation

  • If you are looking for a small yet useful SUV, the Sedici might be the right choice. Do not look for technological, mechanical or any other excesses in it, because it was not born because of this, but, it seems, serves its owners well and for a long time.
