Fiat Stilo 1.4 16V Active

Let's face it. Fiat didn't really surprise with its style after the first sales results. If the Punto is the flagship in most countries and, of course, in native Italy, the Stilo is the kind of car that is so much needed in a sales pitch that a brand like Fiat has to think to keep up with the competition.

In our tests, Stilo performed on average so far, he does not really stand out, he does not have fatal errors, and he did not receive much praise. Therefore, the surprise from meeting this style was even greater. It does not differ much from others, it has harmonious forms, recognizable, solid workmanship, ... like all styles so far.

Why was he on the test with us? The reason is the new engine. The renowned petrol 1-liter engine with 4-valve technology and 95 hp. for some time now has filled the gap between the too weak 1-liter and more expensive and solid-powerful 2-liter gasoline engines.

In our test, the engine turned out to be a very suitable transmission for this particular vehicle. It seems to have only 1368 cubic inches of displacement, but that's enough for normal day-to-day use. The first thing we noticed was the slight rotation of the engine at higher rpms.

At the very bottom of the engine's power, it doesn't boast torque that's pampering and allows for a slightly more comfortable ride, even when the gear stick is stuck in a gear or even two gears too high. Okay, okay… we got into the realm of diesel engines, so we prefer to go back to gasoline.

In fact, the only thing we really missed about this engine was a hint of too little torque. It wasn't until early on that the Stilo 1.4 16V quickly greeted our indulgence in lively spin and power that could shamelessly be attributed to larger engines. The engine accelerates smoothly and quietly to the point where every time you add gas it doesn't feel like we're in the middle of a race. Then in moderation! Which buyers of such a machine will also appreciate.

It moves around the city smoothly without problems, but when the road becomes more open, there is a little more work with the gearbox, but this does not interfere. We had no problem with gear shifting accuracy in this Fiat. This gearbox is better than what Fiat has dedicated to its styling.

Let us also inform you that this is a six-speed transmission that follows industry trends strictly. Since the gear ratios are well calculated, there are no drawbacks in power or torque, so you can easily find the right gear for any pace of travel. We must not forget that the engine power is slightly less than 100 horsepower.

The motorway speed exceeds the legal limit by 20 km / h, and its final speed was 178 km / h. This is enough for such a (family) car. You better not look for a sporty spirit in this car, because you will not get it. This is why there are other styles in this world (what do you say Abarth ?!), but which are more expensive, much more expensive!

Anyone looking for a comfortable ride, a family car that doesn't break country cornering records can find a great car with this engine in Style at a very affordable price. If we look at the competition, we find that the finest Stilo is much cheaper (even just under a million).

We recommend such a car with a clear conscience as a good purchase. With this vehicle you will save at least two luxury tropical getaways. For the base model, only 2.840.000 3.235.000 tolar need to be subtracted, and for the test model, which was equipped in accordance with all today's criteria for a good car (air conditioning, ABS, airbags, electricity, etc.) and had an active label equipment, XNUMX XNUMX .XNUMX tolar.

Considering that Fiat's services are among the most affordable in our experience and our analysis, this is a fair price. Speaking of economy: we also consider fuel consumption in its favor, the average test was 6 liters of gasoline per 5 kilometers. You can even save money on this car. And yet the neighbors will not be as jealous as if they brought home a new Golf.
