Ford showcases the Alan Mann Heritage Edition GT at the Chicago Auto Show.

The 2022 Ford GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition pays homage to Alan Mann Racing and the support the team provided from England in 1965. This vehicle will be available to approved Ford GT customers with first deliveries starting this quarter.

Ford introduced the GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition, a limited edition car celebrating the role the 1966 prototypes played in the development of the Ford GT.

Alan Mann Racing is a British motor racing team organized by Mann, who was a part-time driver and team manager. The team ran a significant portion of Ford racing in Europe from 1964 until 1969 when it went out of business.

In 1965-66, Alan Mann Racing managed to strip the Ford GT-40 using lighter materials to create the AM GT-1, along with a second car based on the GT Mk I.

"Whether going crazy on the race track or ahead of the competition in innovation, the Ford GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition honors the cars that helped lead Ford to its victories," Mike Severson, Ford GT program manager, said in a press release. "The red and gold color of this Ford GT is inspired by Alan Mann Racing's contribution to our Le Mans winning history."

Now in honor of Alan Mann, Ford is releasing a special edition GT with exclusive red body paint, gold graphics, double racing stripe on the roof, signature Frozen White accent stripes and number 16 circles on the doors, hood and underbody of the car.

The Ford GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition uses high-gloss carbon fiber components that even enter the cabin and appear on the door sills, console and registers. The carbon fiber seats are upholstered in ebony Alcantara with gold and red stitching.

This car features gold dash inserts, door register bezels and a cross seat brace paired with brushed carbon fiber registers, door sills, lower A-pillars and a console.

“Alan Mann Racing and the Mann family are honored to honor the legendary motorsport heritage of the Ford GT with this fantastic limited edition vehicle,” said Henry Mann, Director of Alan Mann Racing Ltd. Our team's livery is coming to life and the introduction of this new GT along with one of our original GT40s in Chicago will be a magical event."
