Ford says it's learning from Tesla: F-150 Lightning has built-in video game capabilities

Video gaming on the touchscreen of the Ford F-150 Lightning is a reality, but there aren't many details about this feature yet. This ability must be well controlled to avoid accidents due to distraction.

Little by little, we discovered all the features and innovations that the new Ford F-150 Lightning has. Now the all-electric pickup is showing off its touchscreen infotainment system showing its gaming prowess.

A few days ago, Ford VP of Global Electric Vehicle Programs Darren Palmer posted an update on LinkedIn that was discovered by Autoblog. It was a short video clip of a kid playing a racing video game in the F-150 Lightning, Ford's next electric pickup due to be released within a week.

Ford CEO Jim Farley has repeatedly mentioned that the company is learning from Tesla and that adding video game capabilities makes sense.

The video shows the boy using the infotainment system's physical volume knob to control the video game to move the car back and forth across the screen.

The system has been set up to allow the passenger to play, but the driver can easily make the wrong decision and cause an accident. Tesla, to avoid crashes, was forced to send an over-the-air software update to its cars when it became clear that the driver might be playing behind the wheel.

It is not yet known if this feature will be fitted to the base Ford F-150 Lightning. if only higher models or if it would be a feature that is only added at an additional cost. Deliveries should begin around May. News of the absence of the F-150 Lightning Pro and XLT versions has just come out, so many armor holders may not even realize how valuable their electric trucks are.
